The same will be true if / when we ever do away with USB A adapters.
My wife just dropped off 4 more adapters in my office. Asked if I knew what they were to. She knows better that if she doesn't know then I wouldn't know. I'll just add them to my big bin. I will say that this pile of adapters has saved me a couple of times with alarm clocks and such. Right voltage, wrong end but just cut the end off the alarm clocks adapter and the donner adapter and black tape the clocks end to the donner and job is done.
The integrated USB A with power brick adapters really have a short lifespan due to the cheap components they used. Just watch Big Clive when he does teardowns. My weather stations receiver power supply month by month kept dropping the current it was putting out and had to replace it with an old Motorola one. I will tell you that Motorola built their USB A adapters to last. And don't get me started with the cheap ones that Samsung used to put into their phone boxes.
I had that in my possession at one point. Well after they were sold, but it was interesting. Ran CP/M if I recall.
"Cheap" is pervasive throughout the manufacturers.
My Unifi USG started acting weird - of course while I was traveling - and I ended up figuring out it was a common problem with a low power output brick and had the wife & son find another compatible brick in the stash to get it running again. Now I try to replace most of them with something slightly larger if I have one in the hopes they'll last longer if less stressed to their max.
It's DNS.
I once had the (much newer x86) Compaq version with like a 7" screen.
Yep compaq luggable i had one for work with oracle on it.
Kaypro was my first. Upgraded the video in it, too. Spent most of my time on it playing Adventure.
