My friend, a writer, said this to me after seeing the movie:

"That wasn't the first time I, a hack, saw something not written in the book.

This! ^^^^

I have neighbors that put up their Christmas lights this week! I love the holiday and lights and music as much as anyone (probably more) but can we at least wait until the day after Thanksgiving!?

I do want to put up permanent lighting myself, but haven't had time.... :frowning:

We typically put up our lights the weekend after Halloween since it’s usually warmer that weekend than it is as time moves towards December. However, we only turn them on the night of the Christmas Parade, usually around the 25th of November (through a Hubitat automation restricted to start only at that point).

I really need to get some permanent outdoor lights for the front of my house, I hate taking the down and putting them up.

Btw this year I went for a simple Halloween front porch setup. My with found some cheap props at Kmart that I was able to modify to me motion controlled using an arduino, motion sensor and a relay that I had in my parts bin.

For atmosphere I just changed to porch liFX bulb to red.

PS, our black cat Ebony made an appearance too.

That sounds very reasonable...but I'm in SoCal and it's warm enough to put up your lights in t-shirt and shorts all the way through the end of December and well into the next year!

My wife just laughs at me as I rant about the "correct" timing for Christmas lights, since one time a few years ago I left my lights up and on until mid-February.

She’s about 15 years old and just doesn’t care about anything. She hangs out in our front garden enjoying the sun all day. It’s funny when ppl walk past with their dogs as many of them go nuts when they spot her. She just ignores them.

There is a company here called jellyfish lighting that does it. I may call for a quote. Worst case off season/holiday you can just not turn them on or just turn them on white for down lighting.

I like the look of the Govee permanent outdoor lights, especially if modified to run from WLED.

I thought about those too. Last time I looked at them, they were limited to 1 set per customer, not sure how many they would have sold being restricted like that. That was about a year ago.
