Iirc, I had a HP Messenger before that. Both ran windows CE, which was pretty decent for the time.

Oh it does now, but back then it was very hackable. I had bodged in TomTom onto both of mine, so I had GPS navigation (using an external Bluetooth GPS module) in my phones before it was mainstream.
