I have fluorescent light fixtures in my shop that were connected with Jasco Binary Switch (Z-Wave+) on my older z-wave platform, TraneHome (Nexia w/BR100 Controller).
Since the HE7 inception that I bought a month back, I excluded and then included each light fixture to Hubitat but have now run out of the older black outdoor plugs and want to use a simple, smart plug. Are the new smart plugs compatible with fluorescent on/off style fixtures?
Do you really intend to dim your fluorescent lights? You’re probably best off using a plug that just switches on/off, not one that dims.

You have to make sure they are relay style contacts in them, you will usually hear a click when they change state. This kind of smart plug will be ok for fluorescent fixtures. I know the Ikea Zigbee ones have a relay and are compatible (also good repeaters).
If you want to stick with ZWave, check the Zooz line, most on/off devices use relays, if you are not sure just ask them, they are usually very responsive.

I am not, just asking if a smart plug would work. If it’s incompatible, I’ll use a similar plug like the Jasco.
Thanks, I’ll check out Zooz. Going all out on z-Wave, already too many Wi-Fi devices on the network, particularly cameras. Don’t find much in the way of Z-Wave cameras.
A plug that only turns on/off, with a relay inside, as @nclark mentioned, yes.
A plug that is a dimmer, no.

I've had good luck with a Leviton DZPA1 Z-Wave outlet/plug.

Could probably work for small space heaters too?
Don't see why not, as long as it's under 1/2 hp. 
With a sensor and this great app.

Good to know. I haven't done anything with a virtual device yet so I could possibly set it up with the space heater.
