C8 stuck on initializing any zigbee device

My C8 will not successfully pair zigbee devices. My mesh is strong, and everything worked fine with my C7.

All pairing methods just timeout during the "initializing" phase of pairing.

All of the zigbee devices that were already paired with my C7 in the past are working fine. It's just adding new devices that will not work.

It's been driving me crazy.

Anyone have clues for this? I've never had problems in the past. Zigbee was always rock solid and fast with pairing.

Have you tried shutting down the hub from the settings page, unplugging the power for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in? This will reset the ZigBee radio.

Will not pair any devices or specific devices? Also, are there any warnings in past logs from the hub (under sys)? Mind sharing what devices are you trying to pair (make and model)?

Sorry for the generic and not helpful first post. I was just frustrated.

I just did some testing now to get you more specific info on what works and what doesn't.

Worked:

  • NYCE Contact Sensor. Model 3011 HA
  • Sengled Element Color Plus Bulb
  • Hue Motion Sensor. Model 9290030675

Did not work:

  • Centralite Motion Sensor. Model 3328-G
  • Sylvania Lightify Motion and Temp Sensor. Model 72923
  • Sonoff Motion Sensor. Model SNZB-03

So it appears Motion Sensors are the culprits.

All of them worked fine with the C7 at a previous apartment I had. The Hue sensor is brand new though.

Thanks for the update. Any errors in the logs while you are trying to pair these?

@bobbyD, there are more than twenty similar cases linked to the Double Luck Voodoo workaround ...

Zigbee 3.0 devices will not pair via Zigbee 3.0 routers when the Zigbee 3.0 coordinator routing table becomes full (max 32 direct pairings or 32 pairing attempts, even if the total number of the directly paired Zigbee devices is less than 32.).

The C-8 'Rebuild Network' operation seemingly clears some routing tables and provides a time window for paring of the Zigbee 3.0 devices directly to the C-8 hub, It has been this way for many moons ...
