C7 ZWave Include is timing out

Hi.

I’ve got a c7 hub that identifies when a zwave device is in inclusion mode, but then inclusion times out and the device is not added. Zwave exclusion works as expected.

I have another C7 hub for another building and the same zwave device pairs to that hub without issue.

A soft reset has been performed on the faulty c7 hub along with a zwave repair, and I’m still stuck in the same situation.

Emailed support and I am guessing that since my device is over 3 years old, it’s not covered.

Since I have subscriptions on this unit, I am unable to perform a full reset.

My question is, should I perform a zwave reset and repair over 50 devices? What other options do I have to get this one hub working again.

I should also point out that I’ve restored from back up several times, progressively going to older, and older backups but the issue remains.

Suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!

If your z-wave devices are working and the only issue you have is you cannot include any more devices, I would not recommend a z-wave reset.
I would try shutting down your hub through the menus, then pull the power for 30 seconds to ensure the radio powers down.
Power up again. Wait a couple of minutes when you are back on line. Then I would do an exclusion of the device and then try including again.
Good luck.

@shawn2 In addition to what @bobbles can you post your z-wave details page in it's entirety? Use windows snip.

Another thought while you're working on the ZWave details - how far away are you try to do the include, i.e. maybe try an include around 5-8 feet from the hub.

Thank you. I will give this a shot.

I've attached a long PNG file that is a scrolling screenshot of my zwave details.

I am no more than 3 feet away from the hub when I run the include.

Holy crap! You have 10 ghosts. No wonder you're having problems. They all need removed. The ones with the discover buttons. Click refresh on that line, wait a couple of seconds and click remove..... Once done shut down the hub, unplug power for a minute and power back up then try adding.

Ah..those ghosts could be the zWave Smoke /Carbon Monoxide device I've been trying to add.

Will delete them after powering the unit back up.

There are switch ghosts and a couple of power strip ghosts in there too. All of them have to go.

Yep. I see them. I'm trashing them now.

Those damned Zooz zwave power strips.....

Thank you @ rlithgow1 for pointing me in the right direction.

6 of the 10 ghosts won't delete using the built-in tools.

I found the Delete 2 Ghost Devices post and the How to Remove Ghosts Using Hub Tools or a USB Stick and am going through the process in the PDF document that was linked.

Of course, I have to do things the hard way...

Again, tip o' the hat to @rlithgow1 and I'll update once I get done removing all ghosts.

While you are working on this, make sure you z-wave firmware is up to date:

The stick is the best way at this point.

Hey there.

Apologies for the long silence.

I had two Aeotec Zwave USB 5 sticks and after a few days of struggling to remove the ghosts without success. I tried to upgrade the firmware and just had issue after issue with both of them.

The result was that I could not remove them using either stick. I ended up ordering a newer Aeotec USB7 stick. I upgraded to the latest zwave firmware and was finally able to remove the ghosts.

Thanks again to @rlithgow1 @jtp10181 for the assist.
