C-8 Pro - Issues reconnecting NYCE NCZ-3011-HA Zigbee contact sensors after batteries died

Hubitat C-8 Pro
Platform version: 2.4.0.151

Zigbee details:

  • Channel: 25
  • Power: 8

I have multiple NYCE NCZ-3011-HA devices that are all working on my network without issue. Recently two of them fell off of my Zigbee network due to the batteries dying. Before disconnecting the devices were reporting battery status/state without issue. After replacing the batteries in both devices neither device reconnected to the network.

To re-add the device, I completed the following steps (which have all worked in the past on the same hub/different firmware):

  • Factory reset the Zigbee device and ran pairing in standard, pair without 3.0 ZigBee repeaters, and pair in the clear methods
  • Restarted the hub, unplugged for 30+ seconds, restarted and then attempted to re-pair the device using the previous methods
  • Attempted to pair right next to the hub

Additional troubleshooting steps I have taken:

  • Successfully paired other Zigbee brand/devices to the C-8 Pro hub
  • Paired the disconnected Zigbee devices above to an older C-7 hub that I have for testing. C-7 is on a different channel (channel 20). Both devices paired successfully to the C-7 (just wanted to ensure the devices were not faulty)
  • Attempted to pair a new NCZ-3011-HA (one that has never been joined to the C-8 Pro hub) device and it keeps hanging at the initialization step

My questions:

  • Are others currently experiencing issues with these devices and C-8 hubs? I have been able to reconnect the same model of Zigbee device in the past several months without issue to my C-8 hub.
  • Does anyone have any other steps that they have used to successfully get them to pair? Is there anything else that I can check?

Thanks in advance!

I've had similar issues in the past. I don't have any advice other than to keep hammering away. Maybe try near different repeaters or the hub.

I once found a trick during a Zigbee issue I had, where if I went into Zigbee Details in settings and did a rebuild network, then right after tried to pair the device, it seemed to help. Worth a shot.

That may work, but the NYCE sensors are Zigbee HA 1.2, not 3

Thanks all for the help! I was finally able to get them paired with the hub again.

The steps that I followed that worked on both were as follows:

  • Click the Settings > Zigbee > Rebuild network button and wait for it to finish
  • Move the NYCE device within a couple of inches of the Hub
  • Start Zigbee pairing on the Hub. Usually I needed to run it twice before the device would re-connect

I executed the steps above each time I paired one of the devices to the hub.
