I'm guessing that 1100 lumens is the top when it comes to light output of any Hubitat compatible RGB bulbs? Anyone know of anything brighter?
The claimed output for these bulbs is 1600 lumens.
Philips Hue 562982 Hue Smart Bulb, 1, White and Color Ambiance (16 Million Colors)
Wow. Comes at a price. But, that is bright. Thanks.
There are also Philips Wiz Connected bulbs that state they can put out 1600 Lumens as well.
I have one of these. It certainly can be bright, but that doesn't translate to across all of the color specturm though so keep that in mind. There are numerous reports of various bulbs doing well for certain colors and not so much for others. I would suggest review some you tube reviews for more details. I have always heard Lifx is the best for high end color saturation. That said I have several Philips Wiz devices and they work well for my use case. Now they even have a native integration.
So I got a Wiz bulb and it is indeed very bright. But I can't get the native integration to detect the bulb. Posted here: Wiz bulb built-in integration - #64 by wiegout Should I switch to the community driver instead?
Make sure you are on the latest firmware. Install the integration. Turn on the discovery. Shutdown the hub and then pull the power for 30 seconds(from plug). When it comes back up check again. There are still a few kinks in the integration they are working out.
You want to use the built in one because it uses UDP broadcast messages for updates instead of polling. That should be much more responsive and keep things in sync better. I have found the full reboot helps allot.
I think i saw a post recently were discovery wasn't working on Eero mesh routers to so keep that in mind.
This is correct. And @gopher.ny has indicated that a fix is forthcoming (although I don't know if it will be in 2.3.3.x or 2.3.4.x)
Yes, waiting for the fix from @gopher.ny. But you seem to know a lot about these Wiz Bulbs. This is the third day and the bulb is MUCH dimmer than before. I have tried rebooting it. Looked at every setting. But it's still maybe 1/3 as bright set at the top brightness as before. Is there a missing setting somewhere or has this died a young death? By the way, I do not see any place to update firmware. Thanks!
The update isn't out yet, otherwise it appears as a notification in the top right corner within 24 hours of the release.
No, sorry. I meant Wiz Bulb Firmware. Maybe @mavrrick58 meant HE firmware. I thought he meant for the bulb.
The Wiz bulb firmware is downloaded automatically for you. I was referring to the hub firmware though.
The wiz bulbs brightness seems to fluctuate a bit depending on what color/color temp you select. You may need to specify certain CT temps at 100% brightness to get it at full brightness. Best i can tell you is to experiment with the CT used.
So I decided to measure the relative brightness of 4 different RGB bulbs. Suffice that I'll be using the Kasa "1000 lumen" in the lamp that I wanted brighter.
Mfr | Model | Meas. Brightness | Mfr Lumen Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Wiz | 100W A21 | 160 | 1600 |
Lifx | LHA19E26UC10 | 120 | 1100 |
Kasa | KL135P2 | 200 | 1000 |
Kasa | KL125P2 | 180 | 800 |
Background Info CT 2700K @ full brightness per each native app. Distance of ~1 Meter from iPhone to bulb. Meter app used: LM-3000 |

In case this is more readable. Note I do not say this is scientific. Just a repeatable comparison of the relative brightness of these four bulbs.
Thatโs a good objective test with unambiguous findings. Thank you for this!
I just downloaded the app for giggles and to see what the high output Hue RGBWs put out. Iโll try to do more measurements later, but @ 1ft (to avoid outside light affecting measurement) and 4000K Iโm getting 1600lux.
I would also be interested in numbers for different hue's as well as different CT's. That suprises me about lifx.
RE: LIFX I was surprised too. It's an old bulb, but essentially unused. So I think it's valid. I would have thought it would have scored higher. I swear the Wiz was much brighter for the first day and never was the same again. I'm returning it. The Kasa bulbs are really decent at a great price point. Lifx can't seem to do a good orange. None of my Lifx bulbs actually. This has higher than usual importance when you're doing Halloween Hijinks...
All measurements at 12 inches from top of Hue 1600lumen rgbw
2700K =1800 lux
3000K=1800
4000K= 2300
5000K= 1500
If Lifx wants to send me their latest bulb I'd retest. For now I'm impressed with the Kasa bulbs. Good brightness, good colors, reasonable price and now native HE integration.
I have one of those Philips bulbs and it is very bright. It is also very large, way bigger than a standard bulb.
