Blast from the past

Keep it. Nothing wrong with critiquing others work. I am not a coder, but my untrained eyes thought the same thing (I.E. bloat) when I was browsing that code. I like to look at code simply to see if someday it will make sense to me, and just out of curiosity more than anything else.

The quid pro quo of updates for a good review just is pathetic. I don't mind people charge for code, or if people ask for donations, but to quash negative things using this method is a bit over the top.

But have you ever had his soup? (Thereā€™s actually a real guy in NYC they based that character off of)

It really is amazing...

Soup Kitchen still exists?!! I thought it went out of business.

Soup Kitchen was the first iteration and closed years ago, but the owner has since opened (and closed, and opened again according to Wikipedia) a chain of soup takeout places:

I used to spend a week on Long Island (Cold Spring Harbor) every summer. And spend a day in the city on the way out. Post-Seinfeld, weā€™d be sure to hit the Soup Kitchen for lunch.

I'm disappointed that is what was sanctioned while other community requested developers have not been.

I am surprised and disappointed as well. He is clearly charging for his apps, I though that was not allowed. Or at least not allowed without an agreement with HE.

He has been added to a "developers plus" group. I take that to mean they have come to terms.

Doesnā€™t mean that anyone is ā€œrequiredā€ to or will purchase one of his apps/drivers....

:man_shrugging:

Yves came to an agreement with Hubitat that they could both live with (presumably including a cut of his ā€œcontributionā€ fees).

RBoy didnā€™t.

It really doesnā€™t have much to do with how much we as users want to be able to access one devā€™s code over anotherā€™s.

Yet I am still allowed to be disappointed.

But youā€™re implying that they approve of his history thatā€™s been mentioned above.

Last post before Bruce closes the thread!

Not closing the thread.

You guys are all in time out, wait you are already.

Clearly Hubitat was able to arrive at terms with him, SharpTools and ActionTiles.

So, if other developers canā€™t come to agreed terms, it would suggest they are willing to part with less, or expect something else from Hubitat Inc.

would love to be a fly on the wall, and see what the differences in the negotiations and settlements were.. Too bad I would love lock manager as in my experience it was much more robust than the built in one.
