I am installing a Water level Zigbee sensor, but it will be very hidden, on an underground water deposit in my garage.
I suspect the signal will not be very strong, so I need to add some Zigbee repeaters close-by to make it work as expected, on a wall switch very close to the tank opening, where the water level sensor will be.
My question is about Zigbee Wall Switches with No Neutral required.
Are they repeaters also?
If not, then I´ll have to buy Neutral required switches, and add a Neutral cable on the wall switch close to the water deposit.
Thanks for any comments about this.
Generally speaking, all line voltage devices are repeaters. Notable exception being Sengled bulbs.
If you have a model number someone may have first hand experience to confirm if that particular device is a repeater.
Edit: And non-neutral devices it would appear.
See below.
Maybe I might need to be more specific on my request.
Can anyone recommend a Zigbee Wall switch to take advantage of the Repeater feature?
I´m still in the process of selecting one and buying it. Don´t want to buy something that will not be useful for the purpose I want.
Thanks!
These are typically NOT Zigbee routers/repeaters.
Otherwise, the bulbs would blink with any Zigbee message repeated …
You could stick a USB powered repeater nearby.
The Sonoff Dongle works good for me.
I already have one of this, and as you say, they work great.
I just want to have something more concealed, like a wall switch.
Thanks anyway
I am in a very similar situation as others whereas some of the switches in my home are where there are no neutral wiring. In those cases I used the Lutron Casita Pro dimmer PD-6WCL/PD but it required the additional use of a Lutron L-BDGPRO2-WH Smart Bridge Pro. The bridge does act as the repeater. The Bridge reaches the switches about 40' away and does offer the option to add 1 extender if needed.

How about a zigbee wall outlet instead of a switch?
I need a Zigbee wall switch because that is what I already have, a wall switch nearby, that I plan to change into a Zigbee wall switch to make it work as a Zigbee repeater.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have 40+ Inovelli 2-1 Blue series switches in my house. No complaints and the programmable led bar is really handy. You could program it to flash red for example, if your water level sensor detects water. They're a little pricey, but IMO worth the money.
I don't know that the repeater function works in non-neutral mode though, you'd have to ask over in their forum.
Yes I already have one of those Inovelli switches, and they are amazing.
My need is for a Repeater because I will place the Water Level sensor inside an underground deposit.
I plan to put it close to the access door to this deposit, but I believe it will need a repeater close by to work and repeat the signal to the mesh.
You could always just throw a zigbee outlet somewhere in the room. Behind a couch perhaps?
This underground water deposit is in the garage, so I need to replace a wall switch at the garage, and then jump from there to the rest of the mesh.
I have a wall switch, at the garage, close to the water deposit opening, and that is why I need a neutral there.
That particular switch already has a smart Sonoff Mini R4/Zbmini L2 smart switch inside, but it seems this will not work as a repeater, so I need to replace it with a regular Zigbee Wall switch, and obviously, install a Neutral cable, which shouldn’t be too much trouble.
