Hi, I ordered a bunch of Aqara vibration sensors (model # DJT11LM). They were tricky to pair, I paired most of them to the closest zigbee repeater that they'll be installed at. I paired a few next to the hub since they'll be installed within 10ft. I got them to pair after holding the Aqara pair button after entering Zigbee pairing mode. Once they went to "device found" I hit the button every five seconds or so to kind of keep them awake. If I didn't do the second part, they just get stuck at the "initializing" part. Tested them, and then changed the driver to " Xiaomi Aqara Vibration Sensor" found here :Aqara Vibration driver - veeceeoh
Most of them seem to function fine, but a few don't seem to stay online. I plan on using them for vibration sensors on windows to integrate into HSM. They're all pretty close to my Ikea Tradfri plugs/repeaters. If it's relevant, I have my Zigbee radio power level set to 20, in a clear channel.
Maybe I should have gotten different sensors, as it seems people have had good luck with the Tuya vibration sensors. I should have researched more, but here we are lol. I need about 10 sensors, so I didn't want to spend $20/ea, and the Aqara sensors were affordable bought in bulk.
Any tips with these sensors? Was debating putting all new fresh energizer batteries in, no idea how old the ones that shipped with them are. Wasn't sure if doing the Zigbee rebuild network option would do more harm than good. I attached the zigbee graph tool, not sure how accurate it is, as well as how I set the devices up. Some show sensitivity level as medium, others as unknown. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
The old generation of Aqara battery-powered sensors will stay connected stable in the Zigbee network only when paired though a repeater.
Pair ALL Aqara vibration sensors extremely close to a router (repeater), even these that will be mounted close to you HE hub. Do not delete the already paired devices, just pair them again until they ‘stick’ to a repeater.
Is the ‘office lamp’ a Zigbee bulb or it is a switch?
I just bought 3 of these for testing.
The test one I paired happened immediately but I was next to the hub which is not normal.
It has been solid for 3 weeks as far as connection.
I also don't use the drive you have chosen. I use this for every Awara device.
Gotcha, just to confirm I should leave the devices that are unresponsive and don't "remove" them or anything in the device details page, just re-pair them as if they're new devices? Do I a factory reset on the device prior? I'll do the pair through a repeater method this time as well.
The Office Lamp is an Ikea Tradfri switch. It's located roughly under 10-20ft away from about half the Aqara sensors. Thanks!!
Most of my Zigbee devices do not have a specific factory reset procedure. Pressing the pairing button for 3 to 5 seconds initiates both the reset and the pairing process.
Battery looks fairly accurate but who can really tell until it stops working and you see where it died. I mostly go on HealthStatus.
There are no sensitivity settings in the driver I use.
So far so good, the handful of sensors that were offline I re-paired with a new battery (without deleting prior) seemed to stick for now. Does the Zigbee network slowly get better with new devices over time, and change routes to repeaters itself? A few devices still connect directly to the hub, despite being wayyy closer to an Ikea repeater/switch, then other times when I look at the zigbee graph they're going through a repeater. Thanks again for the help everyone!
After running around my house, and banging on all the windows this is what the zigbee graph looks like. I was pairing them right on top of the "office lamp", but it doesn't seem to route them through it for whatever reason. I also see there's a device now just labelled "0000".
If you have well-positioned repeaters (just use your own common sense for this - no fancy tools necessary) and your devices are all working fine, don't worry about those network maps or what's connecting to what.
