Not yet. Matter bridges are not supported yet. The bridges can be connected but no child devices are created. @kkossev has been working on one ([PROJECT] Zemismart M1 - Matter Bridge for Tuya Zigbee devices [MATTER]) and might be able to give you an update on where it stands.
When Aqara M2 is paired to Hubitat via Matter, the default‘Device’ driver will be automatically assigned.
Can you post a screenshot of the live logs when you click on the ‘Get Info’ button?
Only one of the three Aqara Zigbee devices will work with the experimental Matter Bridge driver at this moment .. : (
I will notify you when at least one of the issues (buttons and locks not working) is resolved.
Thanks-works exactly as you have described.
Hello KKossev,
I like @davidscottjackson have the same logs information. I am only using the M2 hub for my Pet feeder at this time. I did respond to your other post as well. I just want to comment here as well. Because I appreciate the time taken to response to my questions.
Again thank you
I have purchased the Aqara T1 Water Shutoff Valve. I am looking to connect it to my Aqara M2 hub along with a host of Aqara leak sensors. Do you happen to know or have any experience that if I bring my Aqara M2 hub into Hubitat via Matter will I be able to see all those devices and control them via Hubitat? I noticed the last platform release has brought in a lot of Aqara devices and there is notes of Matter.
If so is this connection cloud based and require Internet or will it be local as long as both hubs are connected to my router?
Or do you know if the Aqara T1 has a compatible driver inside Hubitat?
Here is some information on Matter and Hubitat :
I use Apple Home to pair Matter devices, then I generate a new QR code from Apple Home to pair it with Hubitat.
Note, that not all Zigbee devices are exposed via Matter Aqara hubs. Unfortunately, the Aqara Zigbee water leak sensors are not bridged and are not available via Matter.
This table shows the state of Aqara Matter Bridges device compatibility as of February 2024. There may have been changes since then, but I have not recently tested any new devices.
Although the tests were made using the custom driver, the results when using Hubitat's inbuilt 'Generic Matter Bridge' driver should be the same.
The connection between Hubitat and the Zigbee devices exposed via Matter bridges is fully local. Internet access is typically required only when pairing and setting up the devices for the first time; then, communication works without Internet as long as there is a TCPIP connection through the local router.
I don't have an Aqara T1 valve, but it is advertised as a 'Matter over Zigbee' device (a rather misleading term invented by Aqara marketing), so it is expected to work with HE - probably seen as a switch?
Thank you so very much. I appreciate your feedback.
I brought my Aqara M2 hub into Hubitat. I got the matter code directly from it and didn't have to use Alexa. My few door sensors, light switches, and the water valve showed up. The one leak sensor as you said did not. The items that did is only there as generic basic devices with little information.
However, it does allow me to use them in rules in Hubitat which is what I wanted.
I will probably leave the water valve set up like this for now unless someone develops a driver in Hubitat for it.
Does your matter driver give any more information? If I looked at the correctly I thought you had developed one.
I may be missing this somewhere but since I have my Aqara M2 hub connected via matter if I add a device to my M2 hub that is supported via the matter bridge will it automatically be brought into Hubitat or do I need to take additional steps?
Aqara M2 (and the other Aqara Zigbee hubs) are both Matter Commissioner and Matter Controller and Matter Bridge at the same time... That's why you can initially pair the M2 hub to Hubitat without the need for some of the 'Big 3' hubs.. (I was wrong about this).
However, when you pair a 'true' Matter device (Matter over Wifi or Matter over Thread) to Aqara M2, you suppose that you will need to use the new pairing code that is generated from Aqara Home app to pair this device to HE. I don't remember if I have ever tested this, will make such a test when home later today,
Thank you very much for your help. I am interested to see what your trial results are.
Why I asked my question was last night I added an Aqara button to my M2 hub as an emergency control inside the house to my Aqara water shutoff. The Aqara button did not show up under my M2 device list on my Hubitat hub. I assume this is because the matter bridge driver doesn't support the button.
If it is a device the matter bridge driver supports will it automatically start to show up under my M2 device list in Hubitat or will I have to reconnect the M2 via matter every time I add a device to the M2 hub to bring it into the M2 device list on Hubitat?
Yes, Matter buttons and locks are not supported in Hubitat platform yet.
Just click on the Configure button (when using the HE inbuilt 'Generic Matter Bridge' driver).
Thank you very much.
I added an Aqara T2 relay into the Aqara M2 Hub and it moved into HE via matter using the configure button after adding it to the Aqara M2 Hub.
I then deleted it from the Aqara M2 hub as I am not sure I am going to use this relay. After deleting it from the Aqara M2 hub I hit the configure button again in HE but the relay still shows to be a device via matter in HE.
How do I remove this device from showing in HE?
The Generic Matter Bridge driver in Hubitat will not automatically delete the child devices that were already created, you have to do this manually. Go to the child device web page and click on the red “Delete Device “ button at the bottom right of the web page .
I attempted to do this but when I go to the child device and scroll to the bottom the "remove device" button is light gray and you can not click on it.
Did I see earlier on that you referenced a driver that you or someone else has made for matter bridge? If so will it allow you to do this? I got them removed but I had to remove the entire Aqara hub and add it back which meant I had to redo all the naming and rules.
Edit: I just remote admined into my system and the devices that are in there now has the red remove device button. I will reinstall the relay tonight and see if it has the red button now. None of of the devices did before I brought them back in. I am still interested however if you have a different driver?
@bobbyD I added my Aqara M2 Hub via matter and everything works great. However, I added an Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 in and it shows up as two switches in HE. I put in a screenshot. I expect this due to it being a two channel relay. I want to remove this relay from HE. I have taken it out of the Aqara M2 hub but it won't let me remove it from HE. The "Remove Device" button is grayed out. I also put a screenshot of this. When you hover over it with the cursor it says ""This child device cannot be removed separately from its parent". I don't want to have to delete my M2 again and re-add it as I have to rename all my devices when I bring them back in. Is there a way to delete this relay out of HE? I have a C8 Pro running the latest platform version.
