Another USB zigbee 3.0 repeater

z2m yes. Hubitat - they join as a device. But since repeating is at the radio level, not having a specific driver doesn't impact their function.

In HE just leave them as device under the driver?

I prefer the zigbee generic repeater with health status driver. it has a last checkin and health status attributes so I can write a rule to get alerts when it does go offline .

OK, I give. Sort button? Can't see it for the life of me. Please screen cap so I can feel (more) stupid.

@aaiyar - wondering about your process when you added these. Did you first install them alongside the SonOff dongles and then remove the dongles at some point, or direct swap w/hub off 20m to get into Zigbee Panic, or ?

Where did you find this driver? HPM?

yes

Maybe calling it "sort" was misleading, as it is actually labeled Price.

Careful. Sometimes AE puts the image of the desired product, but when you open it up, what they're selling you is a cheap accessory to the product. For example, in this case, some of the low priced alternatives are for power supplies that can be used with the repeater.

I have totally seen that. Often it will be labeled in search as a Zigbee device, and when you click in the price shown is for the WIFI version, and then when you click on the Zigbee version you get a higher price. That is pretty common.

That got me once - A Zigbee power meter with clamps... I didn't realize that the price was only for a clamp, not the device as well, as they showed the whole device on the search image.
I did a return and they just gave me my money back and said it was not worth shipping it back so I didn't have to do anything.

OMG...I spent a bunch of time looking for that filter/sort on the product page. DIdn't realize it only appears on search results using the search option at the top of the site. DOH! Thanks.

There also seem to be physical differences in the search results:

These look like the "new/newer" version you posted about w/the reset button biased towards the end opposit from the USB-A connector:

These look different...button is in a different location on the device (centered top to bottom):

So likely different devices as well?

Ali is just confusing to navigate...

The led is on the opposite side of the button in one pic (button is on the plug side on one, and opposite on the other). There are also some listed on AE that show no button at all.

I guess I would assume these are all different manufacturers, but I'm not sure it matters if they all work the same. Something tells me I would want the ones with a button, though. The buttonless ones must have pinhole to reset it or something.

No button?

No. You rapidly cut power off/on about 3-5 times in a row to rest them and put them into pairing mode.

Ah, like a bulb then. I would definitely get the ones with a button in that case.

Installed them alongside the dongles and then removed the dongles after a while.

I'm a little confused here as to why you wouldn't use something like a plug as a repeater? Surely you have some furniture in some rooms that can hide them if that's the concern.

In my experience, dedicated zigbee repeaters work better. One of my zigbee meshes has ~140 devices, with ~40 devices capable of repeating. Yet, ~70% of the repeating in that mesh goes through the 10 dedicated repeaters on the mesh.

I have 4 dongles on my largest Zigbee mesh and they all have child devices routing through them, one of them had 22 children before I added a few Sonoff USB switches to the mesh (which are my new favorite repeaters). I have noticed that some devices do not seem to ever connect to the dongles for whatever reason, while others will bounce between 2 or 3 different repeaters, and some connect to a specific repeater and stay no matter what. I am assuming this behavior is end device chip/firmware dependent.

my sonoff dongles seem to work best and most things when using a repeater use them. I know they are fugly but assume they work better due to signal strength and the external antenna.
