With my Zigbee network dropping off every day I wish I had a way to turn it back on.
Be really nice to have an ignore button too so HE didn't arbitrarily decide to knock out my network.
This is indication of something else being awry, such as:
- A misbehaving device
- A misbehaving app
- One or more poorly written device drivers (or apps for that matter)
- Excess heat in the vicinity of the hub.
- A failing hub.
My recommendation would be to work out what the issue is rather than search for a band-aid to hide what could be a festering sore with oodles of gooey pus ready to squish its way out.
Man, I didn't need that image floating in my head for the next few days.
Pus always finds a way out.
You've met my ex-wife?
thanks. all good guesses to the cause - but irrelevant. I'm providing feedback that an improvement to the product would be to allow the user to enable/disable this 'undocumented feature (at least I can't find it described on da-google.'. - my transportation to this point isn't the issue!
There's no undocumented configurable feature. Shutting the zigbee radio off is a platform response to extreme load - that's the situation you should attempt resolving.
my apologies. I didn't know this problem had been identified.
Although it rarely happens on C7, this issue was more so prevalent on older models ( C4 & C5).
What we mostly observed on C7 hubs, is that the radio drops offline under intense radio events load. I totally agree that implementing a method to turn on and off the radio would be just a temporary band-aid, until the radio succumbs and doesn't come back online.
To avoid Zigbee radio going offline be sure to use reputable Zigbee devices that adhere strictly to the Zigbee protocol. If you use devices that have been tested by our engineers, you have a good chance that your Zigbee radio will remain online. But if it does go offline, please send me a PM and we can take a look to make sure you are not dealing with some sort of hardware malfunction.
