I found a temporary (hopefully) workaround that will solve the close issue if you use Echo Speaks. Posted over here:

It looks like open is working but close is not, so I just found a solution that works for me for close. You need Echo Speaks app to make this work. I fiddled around with getting “open” to work, but Alexa requires a voice PIN, I can’t seem to be able to get her to accept it via this command.
