Airplay After Update

Update to 2.4.2.119. Noticed my Apple pods were no longer making any announcements. Went to the app and it said I needed to download some dependencies. So okay did so. Still didn't work. Went back to app and it said it wasn't running and I needed to start it. Ok. Still not working. Then I noticed in all the pod devices the volumes had all been set to zero.

My question, was there something in the release notes about this? I couldn't find it if there was.

No biggy, just kinda annoying. Especially on a day I was fighting network issues..But that's my problem.

My Airplay has still been going bonkers. Sometimes it won't play at all. Other times it truncates the message. Trying to do some testing and it quit all together. When I tried to open the Airplay Integration app it just started spinning, never opened. I had to reboot the hub again to get it back.

Any ideas from anyone?

Did you try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling?
I have a vague memory of that helping me.
edit: Mine has been working well.

How about also restarting the pods (unplug and replug)? Maybe before the app reinstall?

Once I reboot hub they start working again. But then as time goes on they start messing up.

I will try deleting app and reinstalling, but not today. Still frustrated from working on it :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Also try unplugging and replugging each of the HomePods, maybe first.
I'm no expert, but it's not all that time-consuming.

Haven't unplugged or anything yet, but something that seems to work.
After I do a playText, or Speak command I do a stop command. that seemed to help quite a bit. Only time will tell if it solves things.

This thing is really starting to get weird. Redo app, unplug, etc. Things work, but still not right. Truncates messages sometimes. But something I didn't notice at first is the messages are delayed by quite a bit. About a minute or so after I trigger it.

@gopher.ny

Four times I've come to the HomePod mini blasting out a classical station at 100% volume. When I've left the house each time, no music was playing. I use the HomePod mini for TTS. I'm kinda depending on it now.

This is too much. I'm reverting back to the previous firmware. Hopefully it'll get rid of the following as well:
edit: It's not even clear to me if this will revert to an earlier integration. I'm wondering if I have to remove and reinstall the integration. Not that much fun when swap device in apps doesn't work for the child device.

Could have been worse... Heavy Metal..

Of course, there's nothing in the logs, so I got the bright idea of looking at the Roku cams. I don't have sound event detection enabled, but the poor cat was wandering around about 3 hours after I left the house, with the music blaring. I arrived an hour later.

I'll turn on sound detection and see if it happens again on .129.

I'll probably turn down the sound volume on my TTS notifications so if (when) it does happen again, perhaps the cat won't get bombarded by all those decibels.

edit: The restore breaks the Ecobee T-Stats repairing, so I have to redo it. Maybe after the HomePod mini TTS gets straightened out.

Mine have been acting weird lately. Delayed responses, in both directions. When I tell he/she/it to do something there is a delay. TTS is very erratic. Chopped off, delayed.

On top of everything else I had 6 Zigbee devices decide to drop off the network yesterday. No idea what happened there.

Maybe my house is haunted....

Yours and mine both. Let's see if .129 busts those ghosts.

I'm putting in hub variables for music and notification volume so it'll be easier to change. I've got, like, 15 notification rules to modify though.

I've been on .129 for awhile. I am now on .134.

Did it act up on .129 for you?

I don't remember for sure, but I think it was .129 where it started the mess up. I believe everything was going ok before that.

Looking at my history I went from 1.157 to 2.119 to 2.129 then 134.

EDIT: just went and looked at my first post in this thread. Apparently it was on 119 where it started to mess up.That's when apparently something changed with the Airplay Integration. That'w where I first noticed I had to download some dependencies.

I went away for a few hours and when I came back, it didn't screw up.
This is on .129.
I'll probably let it ride until the next update.
Although, just to prove it's the update...

I just tried to open the app and just got the spinning. Had to reboot hub to get it back.

Mine is still messing up. Not finishing a message, delayed message, or not speaking at all. Gonna have to dig out o
An old google mini to use till this gets fixed.

That sucks.
You did try power cycling the HomePod?

Oh yeah. I have 7 of them and all acting the same.

Dug out a Google Mini and set it up for the crucial notifications. Testing shows it very responsive.
