Aeotec Doorbell 6 Install Help

Hey guys, I'm super new to home automation. Just bought the elavation hub and an aeotec 6 doorbell. I'm having a problem though where I my hub is not able to discover my doorbell. Anyone have any tips to help with this?

Welcome to the community! Power it on and perform a zwave exclude and then try to pair it. It might show you that it's excluded some unknown device. Also try pairing it close to the hub and then move it to where it's going to be placed. After you've placed it, perform a zwave repair found in zwave settings.

Thanks for the fast reply! I tried that but the device still doesn't show up in the list.

ZWave has regions.. you haven't identified where you are on the planet... so just in case, make sure the device's region matches your hub's region.

April is correct, of course.. you need to Exclude first and you MUST see the "Unknown device excluded" message. Normally you join (Include) in place, but since this is a new installation for you, the first one may need some extra help, by being a few feet away.

I'm in the United States. How can I tell what region my hub and devices are in?

908.42 is the US frequency. That must be on the physical device somewhere to pass FCC, typicallu a label. Hubitat is US frequency UNLESS they include a ZWave Stick (and cable).

so the doorbell is 908.42 mhz, but the hub doesn't say what it's configured for.

Just to confirm, you put the device into exclusion mode?

Yes, so I turned on exclusion mode on the hubitat interface, pushed the button 6x in 2 seconds. The device blinks slowly. I turned on inclusion mode on the hub and pushed it once. The result, nothing shows up in the device list.

Have you paired a lot of things recently?

This is my first attempt to pair anything.

Also a little more context about the hub, it's the c-5 model which it looks like is only available in the US.

When you excluded it, did you get a generic exclusion message? Do you have any wired zwave devices that you plan on pairing? Maybe a plug or something to improve your mesh? Try to move it close to your hub. Like maybe a foot or so away?

Try doing a complete reset on the bell

Says it's not always advised, but it's not working, so nothing to lose.

How far is the hub away from the doorbell?

Ok, so I tried a full reset which doesn't work. I can only assume it doesn't reset because it's already in factory settings. Then I moved the doorbell about 6 inches from the hub, retried the exclusion and inclusion, and it's still bricked.

Aeotec has good cs. Try reaching out to them. Sounds to me like there's an issue with it. Do you have anything you can pair? Or is this your maiden device for now?
(Oh that so sucks. I feel your pain on that. I've always had good luck with aeotec, so I feel like you got a bad device.)

Thanks for the advice. I'll try calling them in a bit. I have another zwave device I need to try to hook up, but that is going to require some installation so I guess I'll wait to try that.

OH! What did you get? Something fun? Something that requires installation? A plug? What?

Is there anyway you can test it without a major installation? This way you could see that Zwave is working and had some ammunition when you call Aeotec...
