Aeotec Doorbell 6 Install Help

@dan.t i don't have any other zwave devices unfortunately. The only other thing I have at the moment is a switch that I need to install for my porch lights lights.

Yeah, I know what I would do but that would be considered an unsafe advice so I am not going to do give it to you... it has something to do with an old power cord, clippers and some electrical tape that, when used correctly, would just quickly power up that switch for testing. Again, that is not advice that I publicly give as it is a danger to people’s life and no one should do this!!!

What is your setting for Z-wave secure on your z-wave details page?

It should be Locks/Garage Doors and not all devices. Another thing to try is to shutdown the hub and pull the power cable for 30 seconds. Rebooting the hub doesn't pull power from the radio so any "wonkiness" will persist between reboots. But make sure you shutdown through the GUI before pulling power.

Are you not in the US? because the zwave frequencies are different

Just checking in. Have you made any progress with this?

Thanks for checking back with me. I didn't have much time over the last few days so I wasn't able to respond sooner. Today I was able to connect successfully and easily to the smart switch. I've reported the issue to Aeotec now that I know it's a problem with the device. We'll see what they say.

I'll keep

Ok. So I feel like a complete idiot. I've been trying to push the doorbell button to pair it... I realized this was wrong when I went to their support page and it mentioned something about a pin. I thought surely this pin must be on the back of the device and while I was searching for the pin I noticed there was a flush button on the back of the siren. That was the button you had to push to pair the device. The device paired immediately. :man_facepalming:

Newton! NEWTON WAS HERE! I'm so glad you got it to work. I mean, how the hell were you supposed to know what to look for? It's like your second device. I'm sure all of us at some point have had a head slapper. I haven't stopped slapping my noggin. One day you will laugh about this. Then someone else will go through it and you'll be the only one to ask that golden question. "How have you been trying to pair that beast?"

[EDIT]
Murphy, not newton. See? Head slapper!
