Trying to add this smoke detector, but for the life of me, I've NEVER gotten smart start to work. Added via iPhone app. it now just says "Not included, pending".
I feel like I'm missing something here. Every other device I've just manually included, but I'm not seeing instructions to manually include this smoke detector... so I thing smart start is the only way.
What am I missing here?
Just to cover all bases, did you follow the instructions in the SmartStart (SS) documentation?
In this second post of Jeff P's SmartStart Manager app, Jeff also includes the instructions as well as some SS troubleshooting tips at the end of that post.
Thank you so much. I literally could not find the first thing, and the second link had the answer...
" If device is still not pairing, do an exclude on the hub and device. Hub should say unknown device excluded and then the device should start the SmartStart pairing shortly after."
Did that, it excluded, and within about 30 seconds it included.

Curious, does this detector do long range?
I do this every time with new zwave devices and am surprised how many time it excludes an unknown device.
I have never used SmartStart though.
EDIT: I just installed 2 brand new Zooz switches and both successfully excluded an unknown device before including successfully.
I don't know. Not sure how I'd tell...
