Adding Aqara Motion Sensor P1 to HE without Aqara hub

I've recently purchased a few Aqara P1 motion sensors and having some issue pairing them with HE. I was hoping to have them added without the need for the Aqara hub. Is that possible? If so, how?

Thanks!

What hub model are you using?

Also, anything in Logs when you try?

It's a C7. And as far as I can tell, nothing in the logs. I'm failing to even have it show up during zigbee pairing. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

This doesn't need to be a guess; just open Logs when you pair and see if anything (really anything from "Hub" or "sys:1") pops up.

But the fact that you don't see anything and haven't had suggests does make it seem more likely something went wrong. Are you sure the device was put into Zigbee pairing mode? And the hub? Have you used other Zigbee devices on this hub without problem?

I suppose your have already installed the [RELEASE] Aqara P1 Motion Sensor (RTCGQ14LM) driver?

Try pairing the device again immediately after restarting your C-7 hub.

Okay, so that may have solved it. I assumed (for unknown reasons) that I would be able to pair it as a zigbee device and then update the driver. But doing it the other way around was key and it seems like all of them have been pair and are generating events in the logs.

Thank you both!

Quick follow-up: Should I enable Hub Mesh on these devices? If they have a nonstandard Zigbee implementation, I'm inclined to keep hub mesh disabled, but I can use all the help I can get with the way I have everything fairly distanced in the house.

I am glad to hear it worked... Some of the Aqara devices are really difficult to pair with the HE hubs.

You can safely share these via Hub Mesh. It does not depend on whether the shared device is using a system or a custom driver - Hubitat syncs the drivers automatically (and very effectively!).

Are you sure you know what Hub Mesh is? The feature is somewhat confusingly named (you wouldn't be the only one...), but it's this:

Clearly, I do not. LOL Thank you for sharing that. Makes sense.
