Access Hubitat (and home network) via Unifi Travel Router

Just announced...for Unifi usrers looks like this could be an easy remote-in option for travelers or those w/Hubitat installs at remote locations. $79!

I saw that yesterday and am very excited. However, I already have a GLinet Travel Router so I am struggling how to justify a new purchase. I do have trouble with hotels' captive portals with my current travel router though.

Same.

I know I’m going to end up clicking that “buy” button on 12/29 though.

See you at next week’s Unifolics Anonymous meeting…

Same! (AX Beryl.) But...

This^^^

Justified!

Absopositively!!

Have you guys tried the neverssl workaround? This seems to work for me at most places.

But if I am successful getting current travel router to work with captive portals, I can't justify buying the new Unifi one. :rage:

I have a trip in mid-Feb so I will test current router B4 looking to Unifi.

So is there another "Dec 29" that Unifi is thinking of? 2026, 2027?

Yup - thanks for the reply, mine was finally available to buy also, just ordered (along w/a small Lite 8 POE switch I needed). Merry Christmas to me.

LOL...that's just mean. GLiNet are good people. (I think that's the Beryl AX that I also have.)

I got the email from Unifi at 10:28 ET this morning. I MUST HOLD OFF UNTIL AFTER MY FEBRUARY TRIP TO GIVE MY GLI.NET TRAVEL ROUTER ONE MORE SHOT!!!

You are not playing the game right.

I'm frankly impressed by your self-control.

Technically, the Unifi device would be a downgrade from my GL.iNet GL-AXT1800. Once I get passed the captive portal, everything else like Wireguard works like a champ.

Sort of off subject but hotels should be required to completely remove any Cat-5 wall sockets if that are not in fact live. More often than not, I will see the socket and get excited that there will be wired internet only to be crushed w/ disappointment.

Makes me glad it didn't wait to think about it.

Thoughtless purchases are really so much more fun anyway...

Comment from wife:
"Saw that you had a couple hundred dollars charge on UI today. That's legit, right?" (We both get text alerts when credit card charges occur.)

Me: "Oh yeah you know, security, and you know, just making sure the whole home network is secure, and keeping us, ah, safe, and stuff.

Wife: "Oh, security. Thanks for taking care of that."

Win! :wink::rofl:
