[2.3.9.193] Increased Cloud Connection Disconnects

With my C5 hub I am now noticing Cloud Connection Disconnects extremely regularly, requiring restarts. Even with the Cloud Connection is unavailable notice, I have no issue pinging cloud.hubitat.com, but connection to cloud services like Amazon Echo Skill do not function until I restart.
This is surprising as the last main release (.184) was my most reliable version regarding cloud connections yet.

Update: in 2 days on .193 I think I had at least 4 cloud disconnects. Haven’t had back on .184 yet

I'm a Newb to the HE C8 pro (or any hub), have had it less than a month.....

Noticed on 2.3.9.192 & .193 the hub was losing cloud connection, a reboot fixed but it returned again later.....

Beings that I'm new to this I can't rule out my network or something I did wrong?

I rolled back firmware to see if problem goes away, back to 2.3.9.184 which wasn't losing cloud connection.

Time will tell if I don't get the loss of cloud issue.

Adding another set of data points, both of my C7s (now on .193) have been experiencing cloud disconnects since about .191

Same here. C-8 hub on 2.3.9.193. It seems to be happening a bit less on this release, but I still lose cloud connection at least a couple of times every day. I didn’t see the post to reboot before updating to .184 — it wasn’t in the release notes — and I don’t know if that made a difference. I did reboot before .193 FWIW.

I’m getting this on my secondary c7 too. I seem to notice it happen the day after a reboot eg to update firmware. It’s been happening for a couple of months for me.

This is my hub that runs all my LAN and Cloud integrations, they all keep working normally, so this suggests it’s a Hubitat issue.

I usually notice it when I can’t reach my cloud dashboard links:

If I reboot the c7, it’s back to normal. My c8 pro hasn’t had this issue happen at all.

Just had it on my C8 too, but haven't seen it on the Pro.

It’s done it again today, last reboot was yesterday after it happened. .193 is definitely worse than previous versions.

It looks like a DNS service failure..,

speed test never works anymore url is invalid.. weird it cannot ping the gateway what is your default g/w even if cloud is down your router should be up and you shoujld be able to ping the gw.

My gateway is just a normal .1 address.

Edit, that’s weird, even after a reboot, ping gateway still doesn’t work on my c7. It works perfectly on my c8p.

when it happens see if you can ping it by ip..

even when i loose cloud access my gw is still pingable as long as the router is up.. shouldnt need dns for that.
could you ever ping the g/w your router could be blocking pings to itself depending on config. i know in my case the auto restart of the cloud process is now working.. ie..

very weird.. firewall.. or are you sure that is the ip set.. i dont see anywhere it is shown in the hub interface? maybe it is not getting it from the dhcp server

sometimes i wish we would be trusted with shell access. just in this case to run ifconfig.. sigh

you could try temporarily setting a static ip and directly setting the g/w and see if that works.. but my feeling is the missing g/w or inability to ping is not related to your issue with cloud down..

I have a reserved IP address which is working perfectly, and after the reboot, cloud dashboards are working normally.

My Hubitat also has full access to my primary network, via my firewall, from my IoT network.

fwiw I'm also getting Cloud disconnects here in Australia on my C7 hub with 2.3.9.193 after approx 4-6 hours. It doesn't matter if I use my DHCP provided DNS or if I use the "well known DNS services (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1, 9.9.9.9) as fallback DNS servers". The hub will reconnect if I reboot it but it disconnects again after approx 4-6 hours.
I've reverted to 2.3.9.184 without cloud disconnects after 24hours

@support_team any ideas? Back on .184 seems to have solved resolved from what I can tell.

Can you PM me the hub id? I'll check the engineering logs.

I had an issue with loss of cloud connection with .192 & .193 on my C8 pro, went back to .184 and cloud was stable.

After a few days it stayed up with .184

This time before updating directly to .193 I rebooted the hub just before updating.

So far no cloud loss....

It just happened again for me, it was more than 24 hours between incidents - I rebooted my Router as part of a software update, and my C7 never reconnected to the Hubitat Cloud servers.

My C8 Pro had no such issues.

This happened to my c7 & 8 today, both reported loss of cloud connection, both are on 193
Reboot fixed it..

Can I ask what your 'Bonjour option' is set to under 'Network Settings'.
I'm just wondering if toggling this has any effect on your hubs. :man_shrugging:

I checked bonjpour, it warns turning it off may effect the hub mesh, which I use., No, this just started, but only once so far for me. I think it strange and not a coincidence that this happened after recent updates to more than a few users. Some even claim a rollback to earlier versions fixed it. I look to our support team to sort this. I am sure they are already looking at it.

I will report any further incidents of cloud outages.
