I don't use the Android app a ton, it is on a tablet connected to my dev hub. But I used it earlier this week to pair a device, had to log into the app. Just opened it again to check on a different issue someone report and had to log in AGAIN. Very annoying.
If I just force quit the app and go back it seems fine so it is only if its sits for a bit that it logs me out.
Doing an android update right now so I will see if the app logs me out after it reboots.
Are you using the app with the same login on multiple devices?
I figured out over time that I can't use the same login on both my phone and tablet(Yes, I have different devices created in HE and was selecting the proper ones)
After I created a new user account for my tablet, and use separate credentials for each device, I haven't had that issue
Yes, same login on multiple devices, attached to different hubs / virtual devices. I don't think this was an issue on the old app. Definitely a bug of some sort. Should not need to make a separate guest account for every single device which is controlled by the same person.
Agreed. If you have a way to easily create a separate account, you might be able to confirm the issue. One user on FB group stated he just logged out of second device and main device stayed logged in. I just created a psuedo e-mail (using the "+descriptor" option that works with gmail) and used that to create a new user. Haven't been logged out since I did that two weeks ago.
A little disappointed that I haven't gotten any response from @support, even though they were tagged in my post. (Just an acknowledgement that they would check into it would have been nice)
Agreed and I have voiced this concern before. Especially when people o out of their way to test and report bugs in beta groups. Staff is engaged on this post however so it may get some attention now.
Yeah I could just make a new account using the + trick on gmail, I use this for other things on occasion. Its the principle of the matter though and since I don't use that tablet often I will just keep complaining about it every time it logs me out.
I also had my tablet and phone using the same login but setup as different devices on the old app. Once I moved to the new app they would log each other out so I created a different login with an old hotmail email address for the tablet.
Will this fix the logged in with two devices using the same email issue?
Not thinking that would be lost credentials since it was 100% logging me out on one device everytime I logged into a second device and it completely resolved by creating an extra guest account for each device.

Details to reproduce are in the link in my above comment. The link goes to my post where I detailed the issue. Although I tagged support, I've yet to get any acknowledgement that it's been read, looked into, or discounted.
Fix should avoid the need to reselect hub/device if logged out, using same email on different devices shouldn't impact the logout itself, but enabling "save credentials" will allow the app to authenticate itself if needed.
Agreed, it should not. But, in practice, using separate logins for each device has allowed me to stay logged in for over two weeks on all three of my devices.
This is why I was asking. The stored credentials appears to be another issue (one which I am not having).
I have been having a terrible time with it logging me out repetitively even though the app updates said they resolved the issue. This last time though, instead of choosing the same location device as I had been using, I let it build a new device with my phone model and so far it has stayed logged in now. I don't have any rules applied to the new device name but this is the longest it has stayed logged in. I am still waiting to see if it logs out but so far it has stayed logged in using a different geofence device name.
I did not have to build new devices. All I had to do was to create a new guest login account for each separate device. I noticed that one of my devices, my work phone, stayed logged in regardless. It was my personal phone and tablet that both shared the same account e-mail, but had separate devices in the hub that were having issues. It wasn't until Istarted comparing what was different that I realized that the devices that did not work shared the same e-mail account. None of my devices have been logged out since I added the extra account for my tablet.
That is good to know but when you created a new guest account you had to creat a new device too, right? So far just creating the new device under the same shared login has fixed my issue of it logging out.
No, I used the same devices as I had used before. (as stated in my original post linked in my comment above)
My work phone, which already had its own email and device, has worked flawlessly since day 1 (Also using the original device I had set up in HE). It was only the two devices that I had that shared the same account, but different devices in HE that had issues. It took me a bit to figure out that the logouts weren't random. It was when I opened the app and logged in on one, it logged me out of the other..... even using separate devices on HE.
Oh ok - that is very interesting, thanks for explaining that. How did you setup a guest account linked to the same devices? I have always just used 1 account.
