2.0.2 (240) presence issues remain

That will always be true because you have more control over those devices. With a Mobile App, you'll always depend on the Mobile App developers to keep up with changes in the operating system.

Due to the significant impact of presence sensing on battery life, Google and the mobile device manufacturers often implement new methods to terminate services and tasks to conserve the battery, which forces Mobile App developers to constantly find workarounds.

The new app features improved presence sensing, and more fine-tuning is in progress, which we hope will further improve the user experience.

Keeping things alive will eat the battery immediately. When we tried to do that in the past, users complained that the app drains the battery too fast. This is the never ending chasing game that our developers must play: how frequently can they keep things alive to avoid the operating system to terminate the services but without killing people's batteries.

Can we add the Validate Presence On Network Change option back? That was very helpful.

I've had issues with the 6a but not the 8. However I just found the "unrestricted" option today, so will test.

I believe that is an exclusive Android feature, and we tried to keep both apps on equal features, but I'll check on it.

I second the request. Even if it is Android-only, there's no reason Android should lack a cool feature just because Apple can't do it..

Agreed.

Bottom line is that it's not a suitable replacement for the life360 integration yet.

Once all the crash reports are addressed, our engineers will refocus their attention on enhancing the presence sensing. Thanks for your patience.

Hi BobbyD. Just checking in with you. Any update on the New HE Mobile Presence "fix" for Android AND iOS?

Luckily OwnTracks has been working ......but it would be nice to have this feature working in the NEW HE mobile app.

Thankyou in advance

Hi Hello
Any update on this Presence?
Im still having presence issues.
Delayed Presence
Sometimes No Presence detected unless I Open the Hubitat Mobile App

Android S22
Amdroid 14
Mobile app version 2.0.4 (267)

Thankyou in advance

I'm late to this thread, but recently I started having issues with delayed presence updates, but it's not only the Hubitat app. My Google Assistant presence sensing is having the exact same issue. The other day I was gone several hours before it ran my Google "departed home" routine. I think something in the base OS may be the issue.

This is occurring on my Pixel 8 and wife's Pixel 6a. Both started having delays within the last few weeks.

You can do the same thing with @Johndc7 's Improved Mobile Presence I used that exclusively when I was on android, and it was rock solid. never had an issue with it not shing me present or away, and even has the ability to use you lock codes for presence. Really one of the more under appreciated community apps.

Didn’t previous versions of the iOS mobile app have an option like that? I could be remembering wrong, but there was a geofence setting that had something to do with network changes…

Just chiming in with no real help just anecdotal observance.
I've never had luck with the old HE app so I use Owntracks.
I have the new app installed and I took a little vacation 3500 km's away.
The app says I'm not present and shows me at home on the map. :pensive:

Bump

Further enhancements are coming in the next release.

I haven't seen many complaints on this subject for a while. Has the latest app resolved the problem for most users?

I have version 2.0.4(267) of the app, and I experience at least half hour delays, both when leaving home, and arriving back home. I have noticed the HE app updates immediately whenever I open Google maps on my phone.

I have given the app location permissions "all of the time", and unrestricted background battery usage.

I have noticed the same thing, and I was wondering if that is a clue. The map in the app only shows the location of the Geofence (ie my home) even when it correctly identifies me as "not present". Is that all I should expect to see, or should I also see an indication of my current location? Perhaps a blue dot?

Presence has been working flawlessly for me with two Pixel 9 Pros since at least August. There was a brief hiccup during one of the updates but that was fixed quickly. Other than that, seems solid.
