I was just going to post that other thread you found.

I skimmed through it, and it is relatively confusing.
TLDR: Typically you have to reset the z-wave radio and rebuild everything to fix the constant bootstrapping error when pairing LR devices.

However, someone just recently has found a trick that is working for them, may work for
others.

So the final sequenced that resolved LR bootstrapping errors (for me) was:

1. Add device to Mesh (no LR) [standard mesh pairing, no SmartStart]
2. Add device to SmartStart App (and backup)
3. Shutdown, power off 30 secs, power on.
4. Let hub settle, verify SmartStart setup still pending
5. Delete devices from Mesh. [Exclude]

Then they "automagically" added to LR. - So it seems the "delete" does something, more that just a regular LR add.. None of that makes much sense to me -

After Step 5 exclude, since you already have it sitting in SmartStart in LR mode the device will immediately try to pair as LR. It will either get the bootstrapping error still, or maybe it will work...?
