Zooz Zen26 Pairing

Hello,

I am moving from wifi stuff to zwave so this is all new to me. I haven't really been able to get this switch going. How many feet can the switch be away from the hub when pairing? What is the proper way (steps) to get the hub to see the switch? I have tried a couple things, figured I just ask. I have 10 of these to pair.

Welcome to Hubitat. I have a few of those switches and they work well with Hubitat.

Add the switches using the instructions in the Hubitat documentation to discover devices:
https://docs.hubitat.com/index.php?title=Discover_Zigbee_and_Z-Wave_Devices

I would start out by pairing the switches closest to the Hubitat and then the ones further away.

Also, I'd recommend the Hubitat documentation on creating a stable z-wave mesh:
https://docs.hubitat.com/index.php?title=How_to_Build_a_Solid_Z-Wave_Mesh

Having said all that, I should mention that I typically pair all my switches while they are right next to the Hubitat, then install them in their final location, and finally run a z-wave repair.

You may or may not know this stuff, but just in case:

I've got quite a few of those switches as well, when I get my new C7.

Welcome @Bored28. Folks here on the community, like @aaiyar are happy to help you. I also have a bunch of various Zooz switches and sensors and have had good success with them. If you continue to have problems though, you can reach out to Zooz support. I've always found them responsive and @agnes.zooz also participates here with useful suggestions. Good luck!

Thanks for the tag @RichCNJ and for linking to the support portal @jtmpush18, we're hoping to release a whole section dedicate to HE this week (I'm excited!) :raised_hands:

In the meantime, @Bored28, first, thanks for giving our switches a try! The key with adding any Z-Wave device is to make sure you follow the sequence from the manual and make sure you click the button, or in this case, tap the paddle as fast as possible. For our switches, always watch for the LED indicator, it should be blinking to show it's in inclusion mode.

And if a device just won't add, we always recommend excluding a device first so click on Exclude / Remove Device rather than Add / Discover device and activate the device the same way as during inclusion (in the case of the switch, tap the lower paddle 3 times as quickly as possible).
Though it sounds counter intuitive (why would you exclude something that was never added in the first place?), this is the most effective way to troubleshoot any pairing problems. It essentially works as a soft Z-Wave reset to your device in case something went wrong during the last pairing attempt.

If you're spending too much time on it though, just get in touch with our support and we'll walk you through the process!

Thank you for all the replies. I have got all of them working except the ones in the garage. I am thinking I might have to make a long cat6 cord and take the hub out there. There is a working switch no more 8 feet away from a switch I am trying to get online.

Have you done a z-wave repair after adding devices?

They were all added at the same time. In a 5 minute period anyways.

I suggest you do a z-wave repair. Before adding more devices.

I was excluding and it completely removed a light upstairs for some reason. Is that supposed to happen with no one touching the switch? (I did the repair)

I purchased 7 Zooz Zen26 to use with my new C7 as well. Pairing worked... after excluding and including a bunch of times, not the greatest experience. Anyway, I got them paired, the built in driver works for them, but if you want/need the additional options you need to download a custom advanced driver.

The custom advanced driver does not work with the Zen26. I'm not able to use any of the buttons in the web interface for the device to turn it off/on, etc... however it does report the state of on/off if I manually turn the switch on/off.

I'm beginning to think this is a C7 + custom driver issue vs. just the driver.

Anyone else having issues with Zen26 and the new C7?

Had the same issue with the Zen26 (reporting but no ability to change), reverting to the Hubitat Zooz Central Scene Switch fixed the issue. Will keep an eye out for updates on @bcopeland's drivers.
