I am trying to update the my Zen21 switch from 3.01 for 4.03. I was trying to follow the Zooz OTA upgrade instructions and was lost on the first step after launching Simplicity Studio software. The Zooz instruction do not match anything I can find in this software..
Ugh,,,,, Didnt even know that existed. Anyway... I ended up finding the PC controller SW that the Zooz FW instruction page referred to and got it done.
The PC Controller method seems a bit faster to me and you can see some sort of progress update. Also if necessary you can exclude/reinclude directly from there if pairing with "no security".
Edit: sorry I meant the full version of the PC Controller from SiLabs - found in their not so "Simplicity Studio" package..
Yup, I had tried that but by the time I got to step 4, Installation Manager, the "Next/Ok" button was disabled. I could enable this button by selecting the additional options related to development and battery, etc . The install worked a bit, restarted the app but in the end no Z-wave PC...... option available in the Tool dialog.
They really need to change their product name. Maybe remove "Simplicity"
The PC Controller option isn't there by default, wasn't in my case.
Did you follow the steps from here in step 2 the Ghost doc, and did you refer to page 6 in the doc for help adding the PC Controller app to the Simplicity Studio? (And yes, the most ironic name ever.)
Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio Download link You must create an account on the Silicon Labs site to download the free software. Access the PC Controller app from the Tools option in the Simplicity Studio menu. Click on Tools and then use the Add/Remove Tools option on the Tools Dialog that appears to add Z-Wave tools, which will include the PC Controller app. NOTE: If you need more help installing the Simplicity Studio, see page six of this guide.
The problem was related to my account. At login, kept telling me my password was wrong. I tried to create a new account but it said the account already existed. I tried to change the password but it told me I couldnt reuse my old password. Ugh....
I created a whole new account and voila.... it worked It was as simplicity as that
