ZigBee/zwave faucet?

Hey guys, anyone know of a ZigBee or Zwave faucet that exists? We have a cabin in the mountains and have pipes that freeze all the time so we have to leave the faucets open for any residual water in the pipes. Sometimes someone will use the house and forget to leave the faucets open which means I have to drive 2 hours each way to check that they winterized the house .

Anyone know of a ZigBee or Zwave faucet setup that allows for remote triggering to open the valves?

Thanks!

That sounds so critical to me, being from SoCal where there's never been a frozen pipe... that I'd plumb a special line just for this. I just know I'd die if ever I had to spend a winter somewhere.. zero experience and yet stories and urban myths that convince me that a miserable death would await. Same with going back in time 200 years too. No toilet paper? I'd die for sure.

I'd put in a shut-off valve controlled by one of those motorized Zwave devices that work logically opposite to how we normally use them.

Zooz ZAC36 is one option (ZWave 700 series) for automating the water shutoff. It's actually designed for emergency shutoff when a leak is detected, but nothing to stop you from sending it a close command outside of that use.

Thanks for the idea! I already have one of the ball-valve shutoffs in my home actually, it works great. I was more so wondering if there was a traditional faucet that had Z-wave/Zigbee tech (I know it seems silly, can't really imagine many use cases for one) so I didn't have to rip my wall and pipes open to install a new 3-way tee with a ball valve but that's probably the best way to go.

How about a zigbee hose-timer like this one:

@kkossev has written a Hubitat driver for it.

Seems like you could have the faucet permanently on a relative slow flow, which the hose-timer would block. And then when you're out of town and it's close to freezing, just open the hose timer remotely.

Similar idea: Someone posted about using one of these for a pressure release valve when a leak sensor triggered the water main valve to shut. Dump the water in the pipes rather than through the leak. Another excellent idea that I haven't gotten around to doing.

Not sure if it would be powerful enough, but if you have the right type of float and could mount one of these in a toilet, it could trigger a flow that would allow some air into the pipes.

That's a brilliant idea! Going to implement it.

My idea would have been to install a ball valve with a T inline with the t dropping to a drain. Turn off primary water valve, open T with z-wave valve to drain and leave open.

This is the way I decided to go ...I ordered one similar to this and I'll just tap off the pipes behind the washing machine and put a tee back there and have the water dump into the utility sink...going to be a little bit of work but will be worth it to not have to deal with busted pipes again .

Thanks to everyone for the ideas !!

Woof that is one expensive faucet. If it were more affordable I'd definitely go that route but I think the ball valve actuator is probably more up my alley. Thank you!

It is my biggest smart home extravagance by far! I put it in when we moved into the house and remodeled the kitchen so it kind of snuck in with the new sink, cabinets, and counter tops. It's not integrated with Hubitat but it has been working flawlessly with Alexa and the motion sensor for anyone who comes across this post in the future.
