Zigbee In Wall Outlet

I know it's a long shot but has anyone found any In Wall Zigbee Outlets and preferably one with energy monitoring capability.

I know this is generally a zwave dominated device, and zigbee is usually limited to wall warts only, but hoping the possibility that someone has come across one that isn't widely publicized?

The only one I'm aware of currently is from SmartenIT.

Would be nice if Jasco would put something out soon though right?

BTW I just ran across this.

A quick search also turned up reference to an Enerwave Zigbee receptacle but the link to Amazon was for their Z-Wave version.

Thanks I bookmarked it just in case, dang $50 a piece is a bit steep, but they pretty much do own this corner of the market for zigbee so they can charge pretty much what they want.

I can't remember their name now, but did that company who made smart outlets with various modules you could fit into the middle part ever come out with a Zigbee one?

Very descriptive, I know.

I hadn't seen the SmartenIT, I recently got a Z-Wave Plus from Enerwave.

Swidget - they were supposed to have a zigbee insert. Don't know if they made one.

I think the Nue branded Zigbee power outlets are appearing in USA now.
I was sure @mike.maxwell posted as such on the forum but I cannot find it for the life of me.

$25 for the Nue Brand Outlet from amazon:

I seen those. Do they have any with actual 2 outlets instead of 2 usb plugs?

Yes.
I have used the Orvibo type (sold here in Canada under the Livingwise label, from primecables.ca).
Please note:

  • not that good (but still OK) as a Zigbee repeater
  • if you cut the power to this device, it falls off the zigbee mesh!
i.e. every time you flip the breaker on this circuit - you have to rejoin as a zigbee device

So after every power outage you have to rejoin each one.

That's kinda a deal breaker

A classic "pita".
It also happens with their switches as well.
That's why even though they are extraordinarily inexpensive, I'm in the process of replacing each one of them that I have.

I wonder if they will ship to the US, I wouldn't mind trying "one" out for the price point that they are. EDIT: Just checked their shipping policy, no go on shipping to the USA

But I'm glad you gave me a heads up because I would like to eventually replace all the outlets in my house with zigbee outlets, but no way will I be rejoining every single one after each power outage.

Well,
If you give me a couple of weeks (that's when the Nue outlet is coming), I will let you know how it is.
I know it only has one outlet, but it's one of the very few that I could find.
P.S. If you send me your address, I'll send you a livingwise outlet - no charge.

I appreciate the offer, but even if I was able to make it work, if the company won't ship any to the USA for purchase it kinda defeats the purpose of testing it. So no reason for you to be out shipping costs when at the end of the day they won't ship so it wouldn't really matter.

I can confirm these work and join to Hubitat as a Generic Zigbee Outlet. Like you mentioned about the Livingwise these also appear to fall off the mesh when cutting the power. However, you don't necessarily have to rejoin them unless you need them to be controlled immediately after the power is restored.

After a day installed, I just flipped the breaker for a couple minutes than repowered. It took about 5 minutes for it to find the mesh again and be controlled.

Hopefully this company releases a double socket outlet, this is Ok, I do want the zigbee repeater mainly but not much a fan of the double USB ports.

So, you don't have to physically rejoin them to the mesh? They rejoin by themselves?

Yesterday when I first was installing them I would manually rejoin them. Today after giving it a day to include into the mesh. I decided to test flipping the breaker, immediately it was unresponsive but yes after about 5 minutes it rejoined itself.

It was a short 'test" long term outages may render different outcomes we shall see

If you could wait a few more months. Sinope is releasing a Zigbee outlet with energy monitoring. The price looks reasonable on the preorder. I have a few of their products and they are pretty reliable.
