Lately been having a lot of zigbee connectivity issues with slow responses from devices or no responses whatsoever. Currently have 98 devices on my network. I tried changing the channel and power level (note: Wifi is using Channel 6) -- have tried channels 15, 20, and 25 -- power levels 8 and 16. Out of the 98 devices, only a fraction (right now 26) will show up on the View Network Graph option. Those that do show, only 3 are manageable. The others will always show when I try to do an Add Device (even though they are showing on the map)-- but they will not let me perform any action. Does this indicate a bad zigbee antenna or perhaps a bad hub? I have shut the hub down for 30 minutes and disconnected power and ethernet cables also. I do have also sent a trouble ticket hopefully). Also, the option "Scan Channels" doesn't work at all.
Or if ANY of them are battery powered, have you checked all of the batteries? I have had issues where battery powered devices take my whole system down when their battery dies until I find the one with a dead battery. Usually, it is one of my Hue/Philips remotes that don't report battery well and don't report in often enough to notice they aren't reporting.
(And it is usually a single device that is the cause)
That sounds like a very weak mesh with too many sleepy end devices. How many mains powered repeater devices do you have to link all those battery devices together into a solid mesh? Just adding some Zigbee outlet plugs around the house to act as repeaters may help.
You would think that would be enough, but it really all depends on placement. I have over 100 Zigbee devices, but about 45 of them are repeaters.
I'm reading that you need a repeater for every 3-7 end devices, as each repeater can only handle that many. Assuming every one of your repeaters is handling the full seven devices, that still only comes to 63 end devices that can be repeated.
Google says that for 90 end devices, you should have 15-30 repeaters.
I could be wrong, but I think my problem started with batteries on a newly acquired FP300 sensor. One day it was at 100%, the next it went to 0%. Replaced the batteries, but then network started to have problems -- that was early last week.
I started to have problems with my SmartWing blinds last week -- couldn't manage -- then gradually other devices started to be really slow to respond. I then noticed Monday, that only my SmartWing devices (they were plugged into power) were showing on the Zigbee map -- nothing else including my repeaters. Anyway, today, I re-added my repeaters and the rest of the devices are showing.
When I talked with Aqara about the battery life of the FP300 (which was suppose to be up to 3 years -- not 2 months), they indicated there was a firmware upgrade available.
Long story short, I think my Zigbee network is back.
