Seriously? Does anyone have any details?
Saw this article yesterday, but no real details.
Got Philips Hue lights? A free software update could turn them into motion sensors
Interesting. It almost sounds like an April fools joke though. I did some Googling and could only find some additional info on how it works (or rather how it probably works) via Reddit. They speculate that you can use the fluctuations in signal strength for each powered Zigbee device to infer occupancy. Apparently, Wiz has a similar feature available for some of their lights.
That was EXACTLY my thought. I had to make sure it wasn't April 1 when I read it.
Haha. I also did that ![]()
That should be 100% accurate!, you’ll for sure be able see when your neighbor boots up his new high powered access point…
This is possible. There have been a bunch of papers on doing it. Makes sense they want to compare with 3 sources. Probably less processing intensive. Baseline the environment and then check for phase changes, doppler and signal strength. They didn't invent it, but if you can get it working on the processing power in a bulb that's pretty cool.
