fwiw I am still using an old Aeotec Doorbell w/Siren Gen 5 with no doorbell. You can have customized sounds which is nice. It's a little flaky (repeats sometimes) but works fine for my purpose (door alerts/door bell chime when Ring doorbell pressed).. I got the Aeotec Siren 6 as a replacement but things have been working okay so never made the swap.
Yes, you'll be able to play custom sounds as actions based on triggers in HE.

I see that it is battery powered. Rough idea of how long they last with daily use? Is that battery level a reported attribute?
The batteries should last around 8-12 months, depending on how frequently the siren is triggered and how often it reports temp and humidity to the hub. The battery level is reported to the hub but I'm not sure if HE treats this type of report as an attribute that can be used in automations.
It is .. It's an event like all other attributes and can be acted on when reported..
