Z Wave stops working overnight

it means a device is still pingable. After you hit the remove button once or twice, wait. eventually youโ€™ll get a force remove popup

Kenny, I recently ran into this issue of ghosts I didn't know I had. Once found they were quit stubborn. I had not yet purchased the "stick" device to remove them as part of my reluctance was I understand it requires a PC and I am a "Mac" guy. Anyway, my last resort was resetting the Z-Wave radio on the Hub. That did clear the Ghosts, HOWEVER be warned it resets ALL Z-wave devices. I knew that going in and then very painstakingly re-added each of my 24 (about) Z-wave devices, one a time, rebuilding my Z-wave mesh. Of course that is following the thought process of, "If it doesn't work, get a bigger hammer". Yes, that worked for me and my ghosts have gone on to the other world, but if you have Windows 10, I suggest the advice from these many well worn travelers before us, the stick may be your answer. (Although, I like the idea of escorting the Hub away from society and if there is nothing there to ping... I wish I had thought of that, I would have tried ...) Understanding this is a Z-Wave issue not really the HE to blame.

I dont really want to go that route.

I shut power to the building and attempted to remove devices. Still getting the same non result. And the same log entry. It must be one of the battery powered devices.

Yeah, gotta disconnect those too

I too have issues with my Z-Wave network that just started recently. devices I do not put in exclusion mode, excluding from the network when I try to exclude a different device, and refusal to include the device back in. For me, when it does include, the hub just hangs, instead of presenting me with an option to name the device, and the device goes into what I assume you are calling ghost mode -- the device appears in the z-wave devices list, but there is not associated device in He to control it. In the very rare case I do get the hub to detect these devices, it just hangs (as stated).

i may try to build a faraday shield outta the wife's strainers. then wrap in foil. It would look like a disco ball hanging from the wall...

That usually indicates you have ghosts in your z-wave table. When that happens you have inclusion issues

Can you post your z-wave table?

Aside from having to manually edit my dashboards, and rules, I was able to get the system to work. I decided to go ahead with removal of a gen 1 z-wave dimmer, and installation of the new dimmer. So, I had to kill power to that wall (which has 7 z-wave dimmers and switch). The hub stayed on, but that seemed to clear it, because immediately after restoring power, the hub started pairing again. I won't pretend to understand this stuff. I learned the command specifications, but never dug into how the radios work, or how the pairing process works, so as weird as this sounds, I just have to accept it is working now.

Still if you have any ghosts, itโ€™s best to eliminate them. Also the more paired with security (especially s0) slows things down a lot. The only thing that should be paired with security are locks

Yes. PLease tell me how.

no ghosts... Every device in the list is accounted for, and was accounted for before the power reset. I am left with only one device that won't pair now, and I may try to replace it with another, as it is an inexpensive MonoPrice Z-Wave Plus recessed door sensor, and are problematic to pair in the first place.

How do i post my z-wave table from HE? I am assuming your post was directed at me. Thx

just use the snip tool in windows

Of course. I was looking for an Export feature. I posted the table entries of the 4 devices above. Is that what you were looking for?

Actually i realized i posted in response to @armand to try and help him. You seem to have a handle on getting rid of your ghosts and being on the road to recovery

Ahhh... Makes sense now.

I have installed a SI 700 stick and the PC COntroller software, followed the instructions in the article. This removed 3 of the 4 elements.
However, the device line #15 does not even show in the PC Controller software.

Question; what do i do now? IS this an issue to even worry with?

All help / advice appreciated.

May be a ghost of a ghost. Try shutting down the hub, and then removing the power at the wall for it for about 30 seconds, and see if it is still there when the hub comes back up.
