I'm a new Z-Wave user (converting from INSTEON). I am in search for a Z-Wave device which can be both a Siren and Chime. I'm not so concerned about the sound level for the sirens I've found on the market but I also need the lowest sound level of the Chime to be fairly low (only audible in the room of the device). Does anyone know of such a device which is supported by HE?
Aeotec siren 6 may work for your needs.
Dome siren.
I've seen a couple of videos on the Aeotec Siren 6 and the siren is very loud but it was very difficult to determine how low the sound was using the chime sounds.
I like that device but have been unable to find a place where they are for sale. Do you have any suggesitons?
I have one, so I'll test it tonight. I seem to remember the 10% volume setting on the chime being almost inaudible. But it has been a while since I've changed settings, so should check.
I have a Dome siren and don't like it. It doesn't appear to me that you can silence it while it is going off. You can send it off and stop commands but they don't take effect until the siren would have stopped anyway.
I will admit that I've not done a lot of experimenting with it to see if I could alter that behaviour.
I got mine about a year ago on Amazon. Looks like not available now.
I have 2 of the dome sirens in a drawer. I didn't like them. I had issues with repeat chimes, and inability to silence. Sometimes they would work great and sometimes not.
Yes, you can send an off command. I have it setup upstairs with basement leak detector. I have a “siren off” button on a dashboard.
I think the Zooz ZSE19 might do what you want, but im not 100% on that.

So did I. Until I figured out that it doesn’t do anything. I’ve had multiple experiences of false alarms (not the fault of the sounding devices, of course) where I send Off and Stop commands which resulted in an hourglass rather than silencing it. After 20 seconds or so, my wife starts yelling too. Only after the siren stops does the hourglass resolve.
Again, though, I haven’t done a lot of experimenting. But it sounds like I’m not the only one to have difficulty silencing it.
Update: I just tested it and stand by my statement that it is uncontrollable in real time. I think the problem is that it has on/off commands and start/stop commands and status alarm and off, all throwing events. I prefer a sounding device that you turn on when you want it to sound, and off when you want it to stop.
I’m fully open to possibility that I just haven’t figured out the magic steps, and that reading the instructions might be useful.
Get a Sonos speaker and save a siren and chime mp3 to the Hubitat hub local folder. Far more flexible.
Agree the Sonos speaker would be more flexible, but I've only seen those for $200+ whereas the sirens are >$100.
The Ikea Symfonisk versions are $99 at Ikea.

I just had to test mine ( because I haven’t in a year at least. ) and I was now curious as to if mine still worked like it did when setup. first I kicked the siren on via the device page and off via a dashboard tile on a different device. Instant on and off. Then I went down stairs and dipped my leak detector into water, instant siren on. Instant off via the dashboard. Then I turned on manually and off via Alexa, instant on and off. With all my lights and devices there is no lag either dashboard or via Alexa. I mean just zero detectable time between a command and the device coming on or off. Even operating devices via Alexa is instant.
But like anything with automation, me casa not su casa so YMMV.
On the Siren 6, at 10 volume the chime is louder than I remembered - depending on which chime sound you use.
So maybe the low end of volume would be a concern - not sure. Quiet to one is not quiet to others.
EDIT: Just tried it on 1 volume, much quieter than it was on 10. So maybe it would work for your needs after all. I did 10 1st because when you click volume up/down buttons it goes in 10% increments. Oops on my part.
I totally believe you. There are so many commands and options with this device, and I undoubtedly have set conflicting attributes.
I have two of the Dome Sirens and like you they have been pretty much uncontrollable as far as stopping them and when I use the chime I sometimes get multiple chimes instead of just one.. I've seen several others report the same issues. I have recently moved to the C-7 hub and have not gone back and tested to see if it's the same as it was on the C-5.
