I'm a new owner of a Hubitat hub and I'm trying to join a couple devices as a trial before jumping fully in and I'm running into some problems that I'm hoping someone can help me clear up. I'm trying to pair a Aeotec Recessed Door Sensor 7 ZW187-A and it's not showing up when I run z-wave inclusion or exclusion. Also the documentation for the Hubitat makes reference to the ability to scan the QR-Code on the device to facilitate joining but no such option exists in app and I even tried downloading the beta version and still didn't find the feature. Am I missing something obvious here?
You appear to have stumbled on to a new, possibly unreleased document from Hubitat. Those features do not yet exist in the Mobile App, to the best of my knowledge. Looks like some nice new features that are coming.
I was literally just typing the EXACT same post. Beat me to it! I got too caught up reading (don't worry I printed it if you want a copy).
To answer your question @matthew.t.stump, you should be able to pair the device without scanning any QR code. That is used for "SmarStart" which isn't supported by Hubitat....yet.
So, would you should do is perform a general exclusion first. Put the hub into exclusion mode and press the join button on the device. You should see a comment in the logs that "Unknown device has been excluded." Then put the hub in pairing mode and initiate pairing from the device again and it should pair, without a problem.
Nobody said this was coming on the next update. If i'm correct, S2 security is only possible with a hardware update. This might be documentation for the next generation of hub. I wouldn't count your chickens yet. The eggs aren't even laid yet, let alone hatched.
True, but I am hopeful that it will happen. This update cycle has been very long, and the Hubitat staff has been almost totally absent in the last few weeks. I suspect they either have a large update or are setting the groundwork for a large update.
A new hub soon is a possibility, there already was those FCC documents for the C7 posted here a few months ago.
Welll, you can't access it from the regular wiki page. How often do you go searching for unpublished web pages? The only way you could find it is if you happened to search for Hubitat and SmartStart.
I've seen people find old, outdated/orphaned docs from searching (either the wiki's own search or Google, etc..). They really need to edit whatever the search index settings are on the wiki or make these pages private or something (not sure how MediaWiki works here). It would save confusion in those cases and both confusion and apparent future plans in this case. Oops.
