Z-Wave Long Range

I have a location with a house on one side of the road and a metal barn on the other side of the road. Distance from inside of house to far back of the barn is about 200 ft.

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what might be the chances of the LR Z-wave sensors working at that distance and inside a metal building?

If you try I 'll be interested to know how it goes. I have been meaning to get a LR motion sensor and see if it could reach to my mailbox which is about 130 ft from my C8 hub. The mailbox is metal inside of brick.

Interesting side note here. I also have a metal mailbox inside brick. I put a Third Reality Zigbee motion sensor in it. Been working great. But, only about 40 ft to my C8 hub.

I tried a standard ZigBee a few years back with no luck. I didn't have a C8 hub back then, so maybe it would work now.

Mine's a lot closer than yours, so I'm sure that helps.

I have a heavy duty (about 1/8" plate steel) mailbox - It's only 30-40 feet away, but ZWave LR didn't work with within that Faraday cage (it DID work at that range, just not inside the mailbox). - I finally ended up with a YoLink internal motion sensor, and the hub is in that corning of the house, so that helps - I was sort of amazed that ANY RF signal (besides ELF) would work in that mailbox

So give Zwave LR a try, simpler & one less hub versus YoLink, but for serious long range stuff, YoLink has been my go-to answer. Of course, YMMV, as the cloud gets involved, as we await their long delayed Matter hub..

Not familiar with YoLink. How does that tie into HE? Does it require the YoLink hub?

In the barn there is a wifi router set up as an access point. It communicates to the main router in the house with an outdoor transmitter/receiver system.

I hadn't thought of matter devices. Since I don't really understand how those work, if the barn wifi has a different SSID from the main wifi, but since all on same network, will that work? Sorry if that's confusing.
