Z-Wave Ghost Removal

I have a "ghost" Z-Wave device that I cannot remove.

I added a ZEN54 dimmer using the Hubitat SmartStart app & the device QR code. I had an issue with the community driver not updating the device status and so went through the exclude/reset/include process. That cured the updating issue but left me with two copies of the device and I cannot delete one of them. See screen shot below.

I am using a C8 hub running Platform Version 2.4.0.144. I have excluded the device and powered it off. I have tried refreshing then powering off the hub and restarting but I never get the Remove button. I can force the removal of the device from the device page but that still leaves the Z-Wave entry.

Any thoughts on how I get rid of this device without buying a UZB stick?

All you can do it try to remove it on the hub.

A USB stick won't help you with removing LR paired devices, as the USB stick/secondary controllers won't even see them - they can only see mesh paired devices.

Luckily, though, as an LR device other than aesthetics it shouldn't do any harm and can be ignored.

Thanks for the reply - I researched the UZB stick and understand it won't work. But I would like to remove the ghost, surely there must be a way to do it?

This is an issue with zipgateway, and not the hub platform per se. Hubitat engineers are aware of the issue (along with other hiccups with zipgateway), and are engineering a solution. At this point there is nothing that can be done, until that solution is complete and released. Suffice it to say that LR ghosts will not impact the stability or function of the z-wave mesh.

What mesh?

The mesh nodes that the LR devices are in no way connected to.
Some people do not understand how it works so this must be stated.

I'm thinking, substitute "system" instead of "mesh".
Would "network" even be appropriate in a spoke-and-wheel arrangement such as Z-wave LR?

As a side note, I went to the Lutron website, a first for me, to see what it refers itself as.
Got distracted.
I want HomeWorks, lol.

Individual knowledge, or the lack thereof notwithstanding, the term network is completely appropriate for a ring, mesh, or star topology. And to be clear there are topologies that go beyond the examples cited.

I just bought a ZooZ stick to remove a ghost that wouldn't go away.
While using the latest SilLabs software I noted a column for LR and my only LR device had an 'x' in that column.
So maybe it's being recognized/suported now?

If you can actually see the LR device that is an improvement. Last time I checked they were not even visible in the PC Controller.

@JasonJoel : Does dnickel's post suggest that a Zooz stick might work now?

I'd post a screenshot but I removed the stick yesterday as it was suggested not to leave a second controller online.

Are you actually seeing a device that is paired as LR or just a LR capable device? I am seeing one of my mesh devices with the LR "X", I assume that just means it is capable.

Good question.
I just remember seeing the LR column and the x while I was removing the ghost.
My Zooz ghost looked just like your screenshot.

I think Jeff is asking about that particular device of yours that you saw with the "x" -- is that device of yours actually paired LR, or is it an LR-capable device that's just paired mesh?

I only have one LR device but it was at the bottom of the list with the ghost and an LR capable device. I could have mistaken the 'x' as the LR active.
Hence the ? in the comment. Hope no one got too excited.

So maybe it's being recognized/supported now?

No.

And to reiterate, LR ghosts have no effect on your zwave mesh.

Please ignore them. It seems likely that Hubitat engineers are very close to testing a potential fix. For now, what matters is that LR ghosts are cosmetic with no functional effect.

Yeah, it's not a good look, but I can't perceive any ill effects.

Nope, I don't think so. Could be wrong of course.
