I'm trying to do a general exclude to reset some devices from a now defunct ST hub but the function doesn't seem to do anything. I went to Settings then Z-Wave Details, then clicked on Z-Wave Exclude but nothing happens. No notices or anything. I rebooted hub and same thing.
Never mind... it actually goes into exclusion mode fine, there just isn't any UI feedback which is a big miss I think.
Believe you are correct on it being a UI issue. The Zwave log should show something however.
Just the regular "Logs" as far as I remember, but these days, I prefer to do it from the "Add Device" page since you get more easily accessible feedback there. (Once upon a time, the Z-Wave Details page was the only way to do a general exclusion, and it's never given feedback outside the logs.)
And I think this is the documented way to do so. It certainly is easier, especially if you are immediately adding this device back to the hub. (Excluding from a previous hub).
I suspect the Zwave details method is there only for Zwave certification reasons.
Yeah I think that should be updated, but if you go settings>>devices>>add device>>z-wave and click z-wave exclusion there you will get feedback..
Thanks all. I tried both and the details way was the only one that worked. Now that I know it works, the lack of any feedback is not a huge deal.
I still have an old SmartThings hub that I might set up for exclusion use only since I still have a lot to do. Their UI is quite good.
