I would like to connect a Garage Door Photo Beam Sensor to this device. The Beam Sensor would normally be Open and would Close the circuit when the beam is broken. When Closed this Z-Wave device would signal Hubitat I have a closed circuit.
Can anyone tell me about their experience with this type of Z-Wave Dry Sensor?
I have used the Aeotec ZW097 dry contact sensor for applications like this. I have also used the external contacts on the GoControl contact sensor for the same purpose. They both work well with Hubitat.
Agree with @aaiyar. My experience has been with the GoControl (or other branding of the same device) and the external sensor has proven very handy for other uses.
If you want to control something like a garage door opener those dry contact relays are the way to go, if you want to connect the beam sensor to a dry contact device that reports back to Hubitat when the connection changes you could use a DWZWAVE2.5-ECO but it seams like those beam sensors usually run off 12 volts that's fed through those wires so I'm not sure if that device would work.
