Z-Wave Details Report

I just got a new z-wave wall switch, and was trying to add it to my HE C-8 hub running platform version 2.3.9.201. After beating my head against the wall, because it wouldn't join, (I excluded, factory reset, re-booted my hub, more times than I can count.) I decided to take a look into the information available about z-wave.

When looking at the z-wave details report. I have 60 rows on the report, of these 60 rows 23 have a name in the "Device" column, and 37 rows only have the "Discover" button in the "Device" column.

When I look at other samples of this report shown in other posts, I don't see any rows without device names. Hence, my concern.

After doing some reading I guessed these are failed attempts to pair a device or something left over from an exclude operation. 2 days ago, I undertook the task to delete all these un-named devices, and I got rid of them all. Only to have them reappear over the past 48 hours. I have run a full z-wave repair, and individual row repair, but nothing seems to change.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Is this problematic? There is a sample of the Z-Wave Detail report below.

Thanks,

Dan Q

I'm sure someone will come along that actually knows something, but it looks like you created some "ghosts". These ghosts can slow down the mesh.

Just curious: Do all of your physical devices actually appear on the details report? If so, the blanks would be ghosts, for sure.

I think I would repeatedly hit Discover, and maybe Refresh, until, hopefully a Remove button comes up, and then hit that button.

Chances are, at this point, you won't ever get that Remove button.

Then, to get rid of them you'd have to use a Z-wave usb stick.

It's kind of tedious, but @danabw wrote up some nice directions, and if you follow them to the letter, it works. It worked for me.

Good luck.

Yeah, you have 6 ghosts you need to get rid of. They will inhibit your mesh and adding to it. Click the refresh button and wait for REMOVE to appear. Attempt to remove. If you can't you will need a z-wave stick to remove them. As @velvetfoot said, there is a step by step for stick removal.
