YIO Remote Two (Kickstarter)

And yet another remote has showed up on kickstarter. This one looks nice as well and also metions Hubitat integration on the kickstarter (maybe at release maybe after).

I still feel like thier minimal approach to buttons is a bit to much and aimed more at hte streaming services so for now my harmony remotes are still the better pick for me.

I do like its design though.

I'll say, 408.00 USD, no thanks=I'll turn it off myself

Anyone any thoughts ?

Ya, its a little more expensive for most but its probably more of a replacement of the Harmony Elite's which were up there in price too. It also looks very feature rich.

Of course you never know until it actually gets released.

I'm excited for this. Built in local control, open API. Good premium looking device. Local, web based config tool. If they deliver on their promises this one ticks all the boxes for me. Just hope they deliver:

The Remote Two is looking really promising:

The only eyebrow raiser for me was the road map has OpenHAB support on it (does anyone still use this PoS?), but not Hubitat.

… price !

I did get mine at the KS price though

Yeah it isn’t cheap, but my URC MX980’s + MRF-300 base stations cost a small fortune when new. The Remote Two is almost cheap by comparison.

This is from their Software Roadmap, in the vague 2024 section:

  • Wake the remote from deep sleep with a magic packet over WiFi network
  • Video stream entity
  • Learn IR codes with the remote in addition to the dock
  • OpenHAB integration
  • Kodi integration
  • IKEA Trådfri integration
  • Matter support
  • ioBroker integration
  • Hubitat integration

But perhaps best to wait and see.

Awesome! If they implement that, I’ll buy one for sure!

Hopefully by the time my Harmony Elite and Hub die, they will have a fairly mature and tested product. Then I'll be right there with you.

It's definitely a pretty remote.

My URC MX-980's (and MRF-350 Basestations) are getting pretty long in the tooth - I tried replacing them with the Sofabaton X1's but they still feel like a beta product, and as a result, I have consigned them to the tech drawer of shame!

OT aside - I kickstarter'ed Sofabaton... Shipment never arrived / got marked as return to sender somehow. Contacted them various times, and they never sent me replacements. So I got ripped off in the end. Zero remotes received. :frowning:

Such is life.

I had the same issue, but I did get both my remotes in the end.

I put my name on the reserve list - hopefully I'll be able to afford one by the time one is ready for me.
