Bought yale assure sl zwave lock model YRD256-ZW2-619 when I received and installed it notice that the module was missing. Check for the module on Amazon where I bought the lock but don't think I should pay $93 for a module when it should have come with lock. Returning it can be a problem because I lived in Jamaica and also had it put down for a few weeks. Where can I get a reasonable price module that can work with this lock.
The cost of that module is $49 directly from Yale.
If I were you, I would return the lock to Amazon.
I would reach out to the seller and see if they'll send you one. and what @aaiyar suggested is good too.yale is offering 20% off when ordering from their site. I'm not sure if that's location based or not, though.
FYI - here's the direct Yale purchase link:
I've seen this on sale on eBay for ~$40.
Here's one on eBay for $35
Cool thanks reach out to the seller awaiting a response.
There are amazon guidelines if they don't respond. keep track of your time.
Cool thanks will check them out
I had a similar experience when I bought almost the same lock from Lowes at Christmas time. It had all of the smart logo's on the back of it and I thought "Great! it's compatible with everything," not realizing that it was compatible with everything with a separate module, and no module was included in the purchase.
I ordered the zigbee module directly through Yale. If you go this route, be forewarned that their checkout process is very flaky, I had to restart several times & enter my CC info several times, luckily I was only charged once. The 20% off basically covered shipping (to the US), and there was no communication from them after I placed my order, item just showed up at my cabin a week later.
That being said, check with the seller first, but ~$130 total is still a decent deal on this lock. Also, I personally love this lock with the zigbee module installed.
Many thanks got the zwave module about 5 days ago from your ebay recommendation.
Any reason not to use the below? Seems like a subsubized price by amazon. I have no intention in hooking it to anything but hubitat.
I don't know anything about that lock, but if it's zigbee, it should work.
did the yale zigbee lock subsidized by amazon work with hubitat?
Works great. Seems to work identical as the zigbee. Im skeptical what the catch is since this lock is $60. Wondering if amazon can control my locks now. :). I have two more to convert my schlage deadbolts over. Trying to think of a reason to tell my wife we needed new locks in case the door faded around the old one.
The "catch" is with amazon key, jeff is hoping he'll sell you more stuff. Most people don't know any better and just use the lock with Amazon. And I seriously doubt amazon can control the lock, not impossible, but very highly unlikely. Unless they built in a backdoor access at manufacture.
Once the lock is joined , it won't join another network, unless reset, which requires physical access to the locks guts, and if they're that close, they're already inside!
"Oh no, it's coming from inside the house"
Ohh yeah, I figured the same thing. Wasn't sure about some Bluetooth radio or rfid tag that their drivers eventually get.
The Yale site is out of stock on the YRD256-ZW2-619. Too bad. Like the 20% discount idea!
