If you capture the debug logs as I suggested above I would be able to tell you the answer to that.
Turns out there is no Z-Wave event in the logs for when the fingerprint sensor is used to unlock. I guess it is a Yale issue. Is there a way to check for new firmware for the ZW3 module?
Even if they had newer firmware there is about a 0% chance of them providing it to anyone.
I was afraid of that. I guess that is what I get for buying an unofficial module from a third-party.
Why do you suspect the module is "unofficial"?
Since there is no official support for fingerprint recognition, Hubitat probably doesn't know how to parse the locks output into any sort of understandable output. A usual lock code is restricted to a certain number of digits.. how a fingerprint output is converted into a door lock code is probably beyond the capability of Hubitat to interpret without custom drivers or something.
Are you sure that the Zwave module even sends an event on fingerprint use? It might not - many other fingerprint locks do not, for instance. It wouldn't surprise me at all to only get the lock/unlock info, and nothing about fingerprint.
I didn't put my ZW3 modules in a fingerprint capable lock, so did not test that.
I don't see it on their website so I assume it was never sold by itself at retail?
While true that the ZW3 hasn't been available retail as a standalone option, that doesn't mean it's unofficial... As has been mentioned already, it's just been available as part of a lock package to installers -- since some of those installations didn't need that particular module, the savvier installers have been selling them on eBay.
But the ZW3 modules are fully "official" from Yale.
Nope, I'm not sure about this at all. In fact, I know for sure Assure removed the "Jammed lock" status reporting from the lock last year, so it wouldn't surprise me to find out it doesn't report anything at all for fingerprint unlock situations...
Yes, I saw that, but that seems to not bode well for any support from Yale (at least for a non-installer).
Not like Yale really provides support for end users even when it is 'fully supported' though... So I don't see this as much different?
Go try to get an updated firmware on any of the fully supported Zwave locks from them.
