Xfinity XHK1-UE Keypad Question

Hi - We just moved into a house where the previous owners had an Xfinity security system.

There are two Xfinity XHK1-UE keypads, along with multiple window and motion sensors throughout the house.

I was able to successfully pair the two XHK1-UE keypads to my Hubitat C-8. They both appear as "Centralite Keypads" in my Hubitat Device List.

My question is this: Now that the two keypads are properly paired to the C-8, what can I do with them? Is there a way to pair the keypads to the window or motion sensors, or pair those sensors to the C-8?

Note - For anyone interested in how I paired the XHK1-UE to the C-8, here is my procedure:

First, perform a factory reset:

  • Remove one of the batteries for 10 seconds
  • While holding down the Tamper Button, reinsert the battery. Keep the Tamper Button depressed until the green LED turns on, then immediately release. The green LED should then flash 3 times.
  • Immediately press the Tamper Button slowly 5 times. After a couple of seconds, the green LED should flash 3 times again.
  • If the LED didn't flash 3 times, repeat this process until the factory reset completes.

Next, set up for Hubitat Zigbee pairing:

  • Remove one of the batteries for 10 seconds
  • On the Hubitat webpage, select "Add Device"
  • Press "Start Zigbee pairing"
  • Reinsert the battery. The LED should start periodically flashing slowly while in pairing mode. Wait until the Zigbee pairing process completes.

I have several of these keypads, they work great.
The one in the shed is setup to...
Turn on the fan
Or
Turn on the fan using motion sensors, also xfinity
Or turn off the fan in 5 minutes
Or
Turn it off now.

The one on the porch just arms/disarms/sets night mode/sets away.

The one in the hut...
U get the drift.

I work in the rental industry.
When someone moves out, part of the job is to remove all traces.
Opened a drawer i had not been in for a year, realized that i had 50+ more door/window sensors that i had forgotten about.
Time to box them up, along with the others.

Every part of the xfinity systems seems to work well, i have not played with the controllers.

@woodsy - Cool setup! That's a nice example of some stuff that the keypad can do.

Unfortunately for me, there probably isn't much the keypads would be useful for in our household if the existing security sensors can't be used for anything.

Using your code sample (thanks!), I could probably set up something where I could shut off all the smart light switches and secure all the deadbolts at bedtime, but that's about the only thing that comes to mind.

I think all of the xfinity sensors i have found easily integrate into hubitat.
Pairing them, would give you some security devices, check to see if all doors and windows are shut, motion while away, notification to your phone etc.

I've got a similar setup when we bought our house two years ago. Everything from Xfinity can be paired directly to the Hubitat. We have the suite (keypad, their older door/window sensors, and motion sensors). The pairing process is fairly similar to the process you listed above: factory reset and pair to Hubitat.

Once everything is connected, you can setup automations any way that you want. If you post which type of devices you have, I can probably dig up their old pair procedures. I think the Xfinity website has them.

Thanks, @JB10 - I had to order new batteries for all the sensors, they are all dead (It's been a while since the house was occupied).

Once I get the batteries tomorrow, I can post what sensors I find. It looks like just standard door / window magnetic switches and motion sensors.

@woodsy - Since it looks like this will be my first coding experience for the Hubitat to create my own home intrusion monitor, is there an information resource somewhere on the states and values available for the XHK1-UE keypad?

I installed the battery into one of the door sensors, and Hubitat incorrectly identified it as a "Generic Zigbee Moisture Sensor".

It is actually a "Sercomm XHS2-SE Door Sensor". Unfortunately, I can't seem to reconfigure it as a door sensor and I get all the wrong information right now.

Generic zigbee contact sensor?

I’ve got the same sensor and had a similar problem. My fix was to go into device preferences and change it to the Generic Zigbee Contact Sensor and click save. Then on the commands page, make sure to hit configure so that it switches. This should cause the device to work correctly.

Thanks, that helped. It seems like I needed to do that a few times before it "stuck".

I also have 2 Xfinity/Visonic MP-841 Motion sensors. I reconfigured those sensors to be "Generic Zigbee Motion Sensors", but they don't appear to trigger motion detection on my Hubitat Dashboard.

Do you have any experience with the MP-841 sensor?

Are they showing motion in your logs? I've got that motion sensor as well. It's using the Generic Zigbee Motion Sensor and works great; though, I do not use Hubitat Dashboard. If it is working in the logs, then there is something else going on and you should probably create a different thread. If the sensor is not showing motion/inactive in your logs, then you might just need to keep at it.

On the preference page, what does your Device Data say? Mine looks like:

OK @JB10, you are correct - I do show the motion sensor going "Active" in the logs. The Hubitat Dashboard may just have some sort of hysteresis before it updates the display.

Looks like I'm good now - Thanks for the great help!

Now I'm fooling with the built-in Hubitat Safety Monitor (HSM) to see if it will fit our needs for a home security system.
