I have the Wunderground driver v7.2.4 installed on my Hubitat. I have an API key & Personal Weather Station ID plugged in. I want to use only attributes: temperature and precipType, specifically "snow", "mix", "freezing rain" or the like, whatever is available. The goal is to automatically turn on heat cable on my house roof via a Zooz Zwave relay. , when the temperature is <33F and when one of the listed precipitations are present.
Should I be able to see the two attributes I listed?
I am having the "no poll" issues I read others have reported. Is there a fix for this?
or
Can anyone describe an easier way to get there from here rather than using Wunderground?
Thanks much,
Yes, but I am not sure why you are getting the "no poll" message.
@dJOS might have the answer as he is this driver's main supporter.
For me, I used the OpenWeather driver for over a year but actual and forecast were not accurate for my location. This was in comparison to what I was getting from local news sources. I then tried Wundergroud and found for me, it was closer to what local news weather reports than I was getting with OpenWeather. I think OpenWeather is a European company and I think they use different forecast models then what I see on my local news shows here in Ohio and maybe that is the reason for the difference.
Do you have your own Personal Weather Station or are you using someone else's?
Getting this from my wundergroud drive right now.
According to the Weather Underground API documentation, for precipType you only get: "rain, snow, precip".
I see that "snow" is reported in precipType. Assuming you would be using Rule Manager to create the rule to turn on your "heat cable relay" you could use a "contains" conditions to check for your conditions. Try using some other fields to find phrases for your conditions. You may have to do some looking at the forecastToday values to find exactly what you want. Here is something I quickly put together as an example, but I do not know if "freezing rain" phrase is used in forecastToday.
I have two. Both WeatheFlow Tempest. One now permanently installed at home and the other on my RV. Weatherflow provides the API key & Personal Weather Station ID.
The issue I've had with Wunderground is the data is not updating. I've read others have had this problem. I checked the device and it is set to poll every 10 minutes. I have to manually press the poll button for it to update.
Here you can see the last time it updated is when I manually did it last night
I wonder if this is a Wunderground issue? I have a PWS that I can reliably see on their site, and in my profile. But when I click their forecast page it says I'm seeing ads because I DON'T have a PWS reporting to them. They clearly have some issues in their own user info.
I saw that message last night for my site when I was working with another user, but when I checked my device logs and values, I was not having issues and updates were working.
I just logged back into Weather Underground before replying here and that message is gone for now.
Not sure if this is resolved, but the information I was PM'd was WeatherFlow API and Station ID. Not the Weather Underground API and Station ID information that needs to be created for a user on the Weather Underground site for this device driver.
