Looking forward to playing with this all weekend....
Enjoy
If you want to make a very clean installation check out this Orbit outdoor box. It's perfect for mounting the iotawatt and has 2 gang outlet for the iotawatt controller and the transformer.
Thanx, now I have to do something neat...grrrrr. Thanx a lot
I think it’s watt, not woot .
I had it hooked up and running and calibrated in about a half hour....Working on adjusting my rules to it
My orbit box arrived... I hate that now I have to make it as neat as yours.... (Waves tiny fist in the air)
You can thank me later.
I would be interested to hear first hand opinions and use cases if anyone has the time or the inclination to be forthcoming.
Just about to sort the first fix electrics on our renovation project, been toying with the idea of an Iotawatt install but haven't entirely justified it to either myself or my partner.
Are you installing just for auditing energy usage or will it be integrated into rules and actually triggering state changes?
I've integrated it into hubitat. Mainly I'm using it for Washer, dryer, 2 water tanks, HVAC, and overall whole house. As I eventually find other things, I'll add clamps. Today I make it neat.. I'll basically be doing it similar to @ogiewon 's setup here Share with group my New US Install - #44 by ogiewon - Case Studies - IoTaWatt User Community
As you think about adding other items remember that if you move the clamp closer to the wiring entry point in the panel you can run multiple circuits through a single clamp. Just remember to not exceed the clamp capacity.
@ogiewon is where I got my idea for the Orbit box.
Not too bad... Because of where I had to position the box, I ended up drilling a new hole in the upper left hand side of the box. I also didn't glue my pvc for the clamp wires so that it would make feeding additional clamp wires later with minimal effort.
Nice!
Curious as to why it requires 2 power inputs…?
One powers the unit (black one) The other is for reference power..
Interesting that they need that to be separate… I have a Aeotec and the power supply does both.
