Wiz Integration setup (C-7)

When using the Wiz Integration app, I cannot reach my Philips Wiz bulb unless I have the bulb connected to my Wiz app on my phone. Then the device shows up in Hubitat. Is this how it works?

You need to set up the bulb first in the WiZ app (phone, tablet, etc.) before it can be added to Hubitat, yes, if that is what you're asking. The hub cannot set up the WiZ bulb on its own.

(Or if you have a newer WiZ bulb and a C-8, you could commission it with a Matter controller and add it to the hub by putting it into pairing mode via that controller, but for a C-7, this is the only option.)

Awesome. I couldn't find any Hubitat Docs on it. Thank you for responding.

P.S. I wonder if you add a wifi adapter to a C-7 if it would work then?

Would what work?

Adding a usb wifi adapter on a C-7. I'm guessing you need the Wiz app to pair.

I meant "work" for what purpose. It looks like you may mean avoiding the need to set up WiZ bulbs in the WiZ mobile app.

Wi-Fi on any model hub is only an alternative to Ethernet for getting the hub on your network. Connecting the hub to Wi-Fi does not change how devices communicate with the hub--all LAN devices, whether wired or wireless, route over your regular LAN to communicate with your hub no matter how the hub is connected. The hub cannot, for example, act as an access point to communicate directly with Wi-Fi devices in any other way.

In other words, if that is the question: no, it will not change anything.
