I have a driveway sensor, water sensor, and septic alarm that were previously direct wired into an Ultrasync Z Wave hub. What is the best option to move these devices over to my Hubitat C-8? Thanks in advance!
Can you describe the sensor specs in more detail?
Z-Wave is a wireless protocol so they were presumably using a different communication method with that Z-Wave hub.
Hello. Yes, you are correct. These devices are not Z Wave, however they are wired to a board that is part of an old Z Wave hub. I'm not sure on the technical jargon, but I assume this is an alarm panel that they are wired to?
An example: The septic alarm is a simple float. If it triggers, the electrical circuit is closed and travels to the panel that it is wired to. The panel then converts that to a signal that can be used to activate Z Wave devices such as an alarm, send a text message, etc.
Tried to attach a picture of the existing setup, but it won't let me.
If itβs an alarm panel with wired sensors and z-wave, something like Konnected might work for integrating the wired sensors with Hubitat.
Welcome to the community!
You need to go to Hub owners - Hubitat , join the group and then you'll be able to post pics.
A couple alternatives to the Konnected method are:
The Zen 16, it has three inputs that can be used to interface dry contact devices to Hubitat.
Another option is the Mhcozy/Tuya four relay ZigBee board.
Thanks for the info! I actually purchased a Zen 16 hoping it would work, but it appears it only opens and closes the relay. Will it also receive an electrical pulse and notify a hub?
Also consider this:

... and Shelly I4, Shelly RGBW (yes, inputs could be decoupled from outputs and could be either digital or analog plus 4 independent PWM outputs), also Shelly IO could be attracted and it can handle temp/humidity sensors.
It's a very versatile device, especially when used with this excellent Driver from @jtp10181 .
FYI there are two versions of the Zen 16 (or more...?) that have different capabilities.
True, but just to clarify a bit for OP, the differences are generational -- the current latest model (800LR [hardware v3.0]) includes all the lastest bells-&-whistles in terms of features.
It's now pretty darn close to just being a 3-R/S version of the Z17, but the Z17 does still retain some of its own unique features.
