WiFi MAC id info

C8 Hub only shows MAC for ethernet connection. Even if connected to WIFI. No where is the WIFI MAC shown. Somewhere in hub settings need that info.

This is probably noncompliant with some WiFi standard, no? It's behavior I've never seen in another device. A while back the WyzeCam , V1 I think showed 1 MAC address at boot and then another different MAC after the boot code loaded, which also was probably violating some WiFi standard

Not sure what you mean, exactly. Many WiFi devices do not provide any means directly of seeing their MAC address. Not sure how that would be 'noncompliant' though

In order to see the MAC address of the Hubitat Hub's WiFi radio while connected to your home network, one can simply look it up in your network router.

I agree that it would be a nice improvement if Hubitat showed both MAC addresses in the Settings section.

Yep, and sometimes the MAC address failed to properly switch. I had Wyze v1 cameras with DHCP reservations that sometimes changed IP addresses because of this bug. Very annoying, for sure! But this has nothing to do with the OP's request.

I agree that’s overblowing things quite a bit.

It’s a reasonable feature request, since the hub UI is capable of showing the user its Ethernet MAC address.

The easy workaround until the feature request is implemented is to use the hub portal to see the IP address of the hub’s active connection, whether it’s WiFi or Ethernet. And use the relevant router’s interface to see the MAC address associated with the IP.

Any DHCP reservation will require access to the router’s interface anyway.

Usually if I'm going to do a DHCP reservation, I look at the MAC printed on the device itself. That way I can get the reservation setup ahead of time. Since only one MAC is printed on the bottom of the unit I guess I assumed, incorrectly of course, that that was the MAC in either case.

Doing it after the fact means letting it get assigned automatically, then go into the router and re-assign. Then having to reboot, etc. No biggy, just kinda the long way around.

Yup - it would be nice if Hub Details displayed both the Wi-FI and Ethernet MAC addresses, since only the Ethernet MAC is shown on the bottom of the hub. Maybe bonus points if the MAC of the current network connection in use is highlighted in some way.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. This has been added to the nice-to-have list, but is definitely at the bottom, so I wouldn't expect this to be implemented any time soon, since looking up the hub's IP address on findmyhub.hubitat.com is the easiest way to identify a hub on the network.

However, I could see this being challenging for those who might use MAC address filtering and/or assigning the same static IP to multiple clients on the network.
