The Hubitat iOS app has never been acceptable to me due to how immensely buggy it is.. I am on the latest iphone and iOS. Geofence rarely works despite multiple tries and cannot be set to the distance I want due to limitations. I have a dashboard set to load as the default in the app. About 30% of the time it fails to load it, and instead loads the dashboards page showing all dashboard options. Other times it just sits there at the loading screen until I force close the app and re open it. Other times it just sits and lags for no reason. I have replaced their geofence with an Alexa routine (sadly) which works flawlessly. I believe you can create one using iOS shortcuts which would be better for privacy. I replaced the dashboards with a web page link on my home screen - works great. Even trying to use the Hubitat app to enroll new SmartStart devices is a disaster, and most recently the SmartStart page in the app loads garbled.
IOS app works for me. I just closed my driveway gate with it, at home. Used it the other day to close it away from home, lol. Smart adds devices no problem. Don't use HE geofence. Using Apple Home presence-set position to "approximate" and so far, so good-use it to control a virtual presence w/switch device in HE via the integration. In addition to operating the garage and gate, it sends me a Pushover when presence changes.
The IOS app works fine for me, 99% of the time.
My main issue with it is that it just doesn’t follow iOS UI conventions. Some pages, the “Devices” listing, for instance, have tiny text on my phone, so sometimes I zoom a little; but then scrolling the page can get wonky.
I can’t say it’s bug free, but my experience has been pretty good with the app on iOS. I do have to force close the app sometimes because it hangs when opening the app. Geolocation has also been very good. I did have to delete the app on my phone and the mobile device on my hub and reinstall the app and have it create a new mobile device on the hub after upgrading my iPhone which solved most of the issues I had.
I've been using Hubitat with iPhones exclusively. I do run into an occasional hiccup where the app thinks I'm not on my local network and switched to cloud, but I think that's been reported as an ongoing known issue. Other than that, everything works well for me. I should mention, that I don't really use the app all that much and use Apple Home/HomeKit for mostly everything.
I rarely use the app, even on Android. I just use the phone browser. I don't know how well Hubitat UI renders on Safari, but you could always download Chrome.
I make home screen shortcuts to Devices, Dashboards, etc and put them all in a folder. You can get the cloud links to dashboards and make shortcuts for those as well for when you are not at home. I only use the app if I really need to use the app, which is rarely.
